Watching the opening ceremonies live on NBC right now. It definitely looks and feels very different with no spectators in the stands, all the athletes coming in wearing masks and much smaller delegations marching. With all of the problems still think it was the right thing to do to hold these Olympics. Many of these athletes won't get a chance again and most of these sports this is the pinnacle of achievement. If they had canceled or even delayed it another year many of them wouldn't be back again.
They built everything and took as many measures possible. Mainly the athletes and supporting personnel at risk but they're aware of the dangers for a whole year and going for it. It's like having a big farmers market where all things must go with a tenth of the customers. Making the best out of a bad situation. Plus I'm sure all the athletes are gonna miss the orgies.
