At this point I'm more than a little concerned with Framber's command. I'm still hoping it's just an adjustment period, but his command has fully reverted to pre turnaround levels over the last month. His stuff has always been filthy and was never the problem, putting it where he wanted to was.
I’ve read numerous articles on George, from AP and non-Toronto sites and I just read another blurb saying this is the catch of the year and not a single ONE has mentioned GS being part of our 2017 team. Not that I want them to mention it but here in lies what this was all about, destroying an organization and city, not necessarily the players once they get out. I mean we’ve already seen this but it just continues to be confirmed.
The best thing the Astros organization can do at this point is to keep winning. After they win long enough, the narrative will shift from “they cheated!” To “they never needed to cheat”. That and more info from the widespread nature of schemes. It’s already heading there for the most part. There are still trash can gifs under that Springer catch. The players won’t ever fully escape it, but fan booing and media sniveling loses a lot of effect when its just against one person, vs. a team.
Couldn’t agree more and most of us have expressed the same opinion. Keep winning and at some point it changes the narrative but four years later it still persists. We have to capture the titles like NE did if that is going to happen.
It’s really only 1 year later… as the MLB findings were announced early 2020. 2019 started getting lumped with 2017, unfairly so, because of this timing. The 2020 abbreviated season didn’t help and everybody has pretty much forgotten that post-season (and them being within 1 game of the WS), as the regular season didn’t really separate the best of the best. This is the first real season since the ‘scandal’ came to light. As the season has gone on, there’s been less booing on the road, less off-handed remarks from opposing team announcers. Yes, the Yankees series stirred up some old memories… and I’m sure they’ll get vilified in the upcoming Dodgers series in LA. But those cities/fan bases will probably always be scarred to a point. The Chicagos, Tampas and even Boston’s won’t care much going forward.
Sorry, my reference of four years was in regards to not having won a WS since 2017. I’m well aware of when the news broke but yes your points on it temping down lately are valid. I’ve posted on here a few times that I have friends that are Rex Sox lifers and they’re all well aware of what occurred, what they did and how we’re getting the shaft.
The BEST thing we can do is at in a few more titles! Say we win this year and next, then again in 24…put up 3 or 4 titles with this group!! That changes the narrative Look at the Patriots, all kinds of scandals with them and most involve Brady….and ask any football fan with even a tiny bit of knowledge and he can tell you Brady is the GOAT Go win some more titles Altuve while guys like gap tooth Judge gets the media attention and wins nothing…eventually it will change
No it won't. There is plenty of evidence of that all around you. The NARRATIVE, even when wrong, never changes.
