I'm surprised this has been talked about as much as it has. Dame's in the midst of his peak and has no reason to consider us. Unless ofc he's planning on recruiting another star to join him (Kawhi o_O).

If the Rockets did that, they would be good and I would root for them, but it's definitely not my preferred route. I'm looking forward to watching this team get built from the ground up and watching some young guys fulfilling their potential (or being busts). It's a fun part of being a fan that we haven't experienced in a while. And if you do it right and are successful, it gives you a larger window for winning.

Hakeem, Barkley & Clyde is a super team.
Then replace Clyde with Pippen another super team. Barkley’s super team didn’t win so I guess it wasn’t so super; but 3 of the top 15 talents one team then 3 of the top 8 talents on one team = super team.

It was hard not to think about it while he was talking. In his defense, I'm sure he's talking about the player-orchestrated super teams. Back then, you just let the GM do his job and you went wherever you got traded to.

I will say I am excited about a youth movement. I loved the Francis/Mobley days, but if we are going for Lillard…its not just going to be him. Stone is smarter than that. I would expect a massive overhaul with a series of trades. I would think this is what they are thinking…

Wall, 2nd pick in addition to however many firsts it takes for Dame.
KPJ, KMJ, and however many firsts it takes for Beal. (Wizards get massive salary dump to jumpstart a rebuild)

Basically re emptying the war chest for these guys to put something together like…

    Dame/Augustin
    Beal/Gordon
    Tate/House/Brooks
    Olynyk/MLE
    Wood/(23rd/24th pick)

Again, I would probably opt for the youth, but i wouldn’t hate watching a team like this. There is no unbeatable super team right now so perhaps that changes the thought process?

Eh, our super-adds were near the end of their careers, unlike LeBron or KD or AD or even Harden

Those dude were past their primes - that was an blooper team. Philly Charles or early Pho Charles teaming up w/ going dream and Clyde would have def won a chip.

charles was fat when he arrived in Houston

Getting Dame and Kawhi here and winning a championship would be weird. It wouldn’t feel like the Rockets. I think I’d still pass on that and go for the rebuild.

Even though I’ve met Charles Barkley and I like you outside of Jeremy Lin . Did Charles Barkley not join a super team back in the 90s with Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler, and fat boy couldn’t keep up with Jeff Hornacek?
