It would be foolish to pass on Mobley because of Wood. Especially because they are playable together. Mobley is a seven-footer who most teams have projected to go No. 2 in the draft. After Tuesday’s lottery, we know which teams he is likely to go to, although he could still go anywhere in the top 3. The Detroit Pistons own the No. 1 pick and while Cade Cunningham is poised to go first overall, the Pistons have made it clear they aren’t ruling out Mobley or projected No. 3 pick Jalen Green. The Houston Rockets are picking at No. 2, and this is where things get interesting. Mobley has long been projected to go No. 2 — but the fit may not be there. The Rockets already have an athletic, breakout big man in Christian Wood and the Cleveland Cavaliers lack a strong inside presence at No. 3. Not only that, but with Kyle Lowry possibly leaving the Toronto Raptors, currently picking at No. 4, they may want to trade up to draft Mobley in an attempt to regain relevance and their winning ways. Mobley became the first college player to win his conference’s Freshman of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Player of the Year awards since Los Angeles Lakers superstar and NBA champion Anthony Davis. We’ll soon find out if Mobley can match Davis’s NBA success and even surpass former Trojan and four-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan as the most successful NBA player from USC of all time.
Took Giannis 4 seasons, to get to current size. He was not ready to help team win on day 1. Mobley will be fine. He is a Giannis fan.
Maybe Mobley will grow taller like Giannis..... Hopefully just the torso though so he can drop that ass.....
IF Mobley he can have an impact defensively like Draymond or Giannis, controlling the paint and able to guard 1-5... with good/above average offense... that's really hard to pass up IMO. But whether he becomes like Bam or better or a nimbler Ayton or worst is the question mark. Green on the other hand has the offensive potential of a Beal/Booker or better but could also be a Wiggins or worst. If Mobley becomes a slightly better version of BAM and Green a slightly better Beal, I'm choosing Mobley. But I wouldn't complain too much either way.
You hate that I'm a prolific poster but I challenge you to dispute any of my posts. Most of my re-tweets are from the best scouts and analysts in basketball.
Dispute what here? You just post snippets of play or random tweets with statistics that say what you want them to say. They were two great plays in NCAA competition. You posted the tweets of Mobley's father.... Are you Mobley's papa!?!?!?!
Evan Mobley does not have the work ethic. There are different ways strong work ethic can manifest itself. For Giannis, it's being born in poverty, in a foreign country, and coming to America well after his values were developed. He has no ego and is all about being humble, putting his head down, and working hard. He is driven by his past. On the other hand, you have people like Jalen Green. He's been in the spotlight for a while, and embraces the spotlight. He didn't grow up poor, but he relishes in the expectations. He talks like he's the best, therefore he's motivated to be the best. This is like Kobe, Jordan, LeBron. Evan Mobley I don't see any indication that he has a strong work ethic. He seems like a guy who has a questionable motor. He does not want to be the best.
People who talk a big game and can’t back it up rarely develop into great players. Players that don’t brag yet dominate are what teams look for. No one is picking green bc he talked about how great he is, if anything that’s a negative since he hasn’t done a damn thing yet.
Its frankly an educated guess at best at this point. Trying to predict how a 19 year old will develop is extremely difficult when most 19 years don't even know themselves is a truly difficult task. Asides from a few outliers where it's apparent and almost predestined how great or bad they'll be, most are somewhere in the range of no clue and maybe/likely. Heck I thought for sure La-melo was a ego driven, lazy diva who would be underwhelming like his brother and dude played like a star in his rookie year.
