I watched Green play a lot in the G League. He looked skinny, but never short.

I'm starting to believe Rockets will take Green. I can't believe he'd only workout for two teams if he didn't have some idea that one of them were taking him. If that's the case, I'm praying we can land a solid big man later. Someone like Sengun if we want to swing for the fences on offense, or someone like Jackson/Thor if we want to improve our D. I'd also emphasize resigning Olynyk if we draft Green. Ideally, I'd love the rotation to look like...

    KPJ / Wall
    Green / Gordon
    Tate / House
    Olynyk / KMJ
    Wood / Draft Pick

It may be unreasonable to expect Wall to come off the bench, but we're talking hypotheticals here.

Jalen Green has wider shoulders, so he can add more weight, strength.

Evan Mobley shoulders not so much compared to Anthony Davis and Giannis who have wider shoulders and they added weight.

U could tell that he had wider shoulders than Mobley based off that pic of him in the red jersey looking malnourished? Giannis has already started undergoing NBA level strength and conditioning in the pic you’re showing.

I have seen more than one picture.

Plus, they aren't entering the league from the same starting point. Mobley has been getting strength and conditioning guidance for several years, and from USC last year. Giannis, prior to entering the league, if I remember correctly, was not in such an environment.

Mobley definitely has a really good frame to build on. No denying that.

I never said it was a "big" difference but there appears to be some difference. But I am more worried about his high butt and therefore inability to back guys down and hold position (a la KP) than I am his shoulder width. So I will relent here, because you could definitely be right and this isn't a hill I'm interested in dying on.

Looks more narrow to me; looks the same to you; but unless we have actual measurements then we're just guessing.

shoulder gurus act like Mobley is young Steve Rogers

no way u can look at pics of young KG, AD, or Giannis and claim their shoulders are in a different tier compared to Mobley

Mobley doesn’t need to be a dominant post player tho…KP couldn’t hold position, but he was still a 23 ppg scorer by his 3rd year and was 1 of the best rim protectors in the league…everything changed when he tore his ACL

Mobley will be nimble and agile

Unless the Rockets receive a really enticing offer to trade down to #4-5 and take Barnes or Suggs, the Rockets will end up with either Green, Mobley or Cunningham.

All three of them have flaws, and none of them are once a generation type talents. They all are capable of going #1 in an average or below NBA draft.

Cunningham isn't a great athlete and relies on bullying players with his size. History shows that skill doesn't always translate well to the NBA. He did shoot very well in college, but his playmaking and passing really wasn't all that good at OKST. His assist to turnover ratio was bad for a guard. He is adept at coming off screens and has a flair for hitting the big shots. His feet are not quick enough to be a great perimeter defender or likely a great one on one player that blows past guys. His size and positional versatility all are very good. His physical measurables are as well. He is a legitimate 6'8" with a 7'0" wingspan.

Green is a slightly overrated athlete. He is very good at the ability to put the ball on the floor and get his shot off, and he has a strong vertical jump. However he is mediocre from side to side and his physical measurables are mediocre as well. He is 6'5" with a 6'7" wingspan which is mediocre. Most of the top physical scoring guards in the league have a longer wingspan than Green. He does appear to have the makings of a good outside shot, and when he cuts some of his poor shot selections out of the equation I expect him to be a solid perimeter shooter. He is adept in the half court. As far as his court vision and ability to create for others, he isn't all that great at it. He is more similar to players like Allen, LeVine and Beal or Booker. They are all star caliber players but not franchise players. Defensively Green isn't great laterally and that will keep him from being a great defender, and his relatively short wingspan doesn't help either. Still, he is a good athlete and should be adequate with effort and possibly a little better than adequate if he really works on his game. The most appealing trait for Green in my opinion is that he appears to be driven to be great, and former players and coaches that have been exposed to Green claim that he really gets being a professional.

Mobley is the best overall athlete of the three possible picks in my opinion. Mobley has the lateral speed and fluidity of a good guard but as a post player. He also has a solid first step and can accelerate in traffic. He isn't as explosive as Green is, but he is more of a fluid athlete. He has a strong basketball aptitude and makes few mistakes. His advanced metrics are the most impressive in the class. He does need to get stronger if he wants to defend players like Jokic or Embid. However he doesn't really need to get to the size some are saying, as he doesn't have to be jacked in the league of 2021. His shot is very promising for a player his size, but it isn't consistent and he can be impacted by being bumped inside. I also think there is some question as to what he will ultimately be. Is he a 5 like everyone assumes or is he a mobile 3/4 that can shoot from the outside. Defensively he is light years ahead of Cunningham and Green, but he also plays a position that isn't as important in the modern NBA.

I would gladly take any of the three...... I don't think any of them are "special" for a #1 pick, but I also believe all three have the ability to be multiple time all stars. If I were the Rockets I would likely play up wanting Mobley and see if I can get the Cavs to over pay to move up to #2 and then take Green at #3.

I agree that Mobley will be good. I would be happy to have him. I like Green slightly more - partly because it's easier for me to envision how he fits in the league. Green fits an archetype that works; Mobley is more unique.

I do think Mobley's lack of an elite offensive ability will hurt him, but it might not matter if he's impacting the game enough on defense. I will legitimately be happy with either.
