    I was reading about this earlier, and the most incredible thing I read was that 1300 people were assumed missing. Wth? 1300? I've seen some crazy floods, but the amount of people missing is nuts. I hope that's one of those numbers that drops considerably. That would be one hell of a tragedy.

    Houston was really designed to flood in a certain way. Bayous are designed to minimize flooding as much as possible and not have raging fast water you see in Germany, Currently Arizona, In San Antonio, etc…As bad as the flooding can be here, you don’t see many deaths….usually.

    It's mostly due to cell phones not working and some of the villages being cut off from the outside world due to the extensive flooding and road destruction (some of these villages are in tiny valleys with basically only one or very few roads connecting them to the outside).

    Pretty sure the vast majority of those 1300 are alive, but it surely has to be hell for family members who can't contact loved ones.

    Crazy ****. Thoughts and positive vibes.

    Reminds me of how Galveston looked after Hurricane Ike.

    I was born very close to there, actually (Bitburg). My parents lived there for five years. Military. We don't know anyone there, and we moved when I was two, but this is very sad. My parents absolutely loved it there.

    I hope to visit some time.

    Sad.

    They seem to be rustic centuries-old towns that tourists or filmmakers visit for the 19th century vibe. I've seen some of them and the look really pulled you in.

    Guess those buildings never seen "one in several lifetime" events before.

    Wonder what caused that...

    "Non-political" responses plsthxbye :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

    I grew up in that area. I remember a flood in 1991, but it wasn't quite as bad as this one.

    Too much water in Europe and not enough in much of the US.

    I remember reading how some places got a month’s worth of rain in one hour.

    Seems I was too optimistic, still over 1000 ppl missing and little hope for most of them. :(

    Yeah, some of the videos and pics I've been seeing the past week have been insane. The following video from a week around a week ago was a bit of a reality check as to how bad the flooding was :

    There's also massive flooding in the PRC in Hennan Province with at least 25 dead.
