Man you just don't give a damn about actual facts and create myths to continue your narrative. Sacramento passed on Luka for fit.
Sacramento took the "for sure" big man lock - the hell you talking about?? LOLLLLL Marvin Bagley is Evan Mobley in more ways than you'd care to admit, but Mobley is the no doubter for this team right? Narratives!
https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/kings/vlade-divac-takes-blame-kings-passing-luke-doncic-nba-draft Sacramento took Bagley because they had a pg, the fact that this does not fit your narrative is problematic to you. During the last two years, Divac has discussed the decision multiple times, both on and off the record. He was concerned that Doncic didn’t have a natural position. He was concerned that Doncic couldn’t defend the point guard, shooting guard or small forward position. He worried about Doncic's impact on De’Aaron Fox, whom the Kings had selected the previous year at No. 5 overall. _________________________________ You sure like being loud and wrong.
I still think that Divac secretly passed on Luka because he was Slovenian lol He was booked as an SF coming into the draft anyway.
Fox was a 17/7 guy for them that year!! He's grown into one of the best PGs in the league. EVERYONE SAID THE SAME BULLSHT ABOUT BAGLEY THAT THEY ARE SAYING ABOUT MOBLEY!!! Sacramento fell for the "big man fallacy" and they have paid for it since. They should have traded down. Even then they drafted ANOTHER PG in Halliburton trying to "make amends" for the blowback they receive from casuals, Luckily he's panned out at the off guard spot. That same team took ZACH COLLINS 10th the year before they drafted Bagley! The year before that they took another big guy in Marquess Chriss!! You're just arguing to argue. edit: and while we're at it I think Luka Doncic is a ballhog who's always hurt and is way overhyped. Take that for data!
There is also some stuff about Lukas dad as well. There was a reason his actual euro coach passed on him as well but him playing with Ayton was a reason given before and after, regardless of position everyone knew he needed the ball in his hands.
Dude just because you are shouting does not mean you are making any sense. Zach Collins was drafted by Portland doofus. Chriss was traded on draft night to the Suns, nitwit. You really don't know what you are talking about do you. Thanks for making that clear to everybody, I will now respond accordingly.
You can't come back from having your take demolished so now you start with this. Is it a insult if it's true?
I actually like a lot of guys in the 20-40 area, but I do believe there is a ton of info teams have that may push some of those guys into your 6-15 range... Trey Murphy is one example of a kid that looked to be a 20s pick that is getting love in the late lottery now. I like your Keon example, while his athleticism and defense are crazy good, he's got some warts with his shot and decision-making that probably should have him more in the 15-20 range. Yet, I think you're right and he'll be a lottery pick. I'm hoping this thinking pushes some great players to us at 23/24. I think we'll have some great choices and would really like a pick in the top 5-10 range of 2nd round.
Take the best player with most optionality. Focus on THIS draft first and foremost. The top of draft should always be BPA. Trying to fill specific positions projected on future drafts is how GMs get fired. Bird in the hand ...
Would have picked Luka if Kings really drafted BPA. SAC is a horribly run organization with little or no vision.
I agree mostly except I dont think 6-15 is weaker only pick 16-30 are so good they make 6-15 look weaker. There's no chance Keon Johnson goes 6 lol, not with Kuminga and Barnes there. GSW aint taking Keon Johnson either so earliest he can go is 9. I would be surprised if he goes 9 though considering Sac exp with athletes with no skill. If you evaluate Keon Johnson on his own I mean where would he go in the 2020 draft? He compares very favorably vs Ant last year on similar percentages and considering he broke the vertical jump record of the combine he would compete vs him, Ant, Wiseman and Lamelo for the no 1 pick. I mean Chicago took Patrick Williams #4 based on potential alone and 19 yr old KJ breaking the vert jump record screams potential right more than bench dude right? 2019 was also a deep draft but after top 3 KJ could sneak in there already.
True. Same goes for GMs who go for BPA and strike out. Then the next year go for "fit" and strike out. The heartbreaking revolving door of a constant rebuild. You have to have a vision. Whatever that is for this front office - have some order and a plan. Roster chemistry is a real thing even for the worst team in the league. I think arguing and going full rage mode over the top 3 this year is foolhardy. Odds are pretty good that they will all pan out in their own ways. Maybe even the top 5 guys this year turn out to be very good players. Hopefully Stone and his scouts are good to great because its really on them.
You say that, but do you remember the buzz about Bagley? It was pretty strong and reminds me of the buzz about Mobley. Its really easy to have hindsight in these matters and while NOW its sexy to say Luka should have been the pick - they were committed to DeAaron Fox and he has turned out to be a great player for them. Luka isnt turning around a franchise on his own. Do you think the Hawks regret trading that pick away for Trae Young? Luka is an awesome player no doubt, but there were enough question marks for the Kings to go with the 2nd best big man of the draft. The Kings have had what 3 different GMs in a few years? Yikes. Knock on wood.
Bagley never led NCAA in box plus/minus, BPM or Win Shares. And 2nd best big man is far cry from BEST big man in entire draft. Bagley was never described as a Unicorn as far as I can recall either, indicating rare skillset. Bagley was not 7 feet tall with condor wingspan nor was he the playmaker or overall defender that Mobley is. Bagley was not undersized either and more advanced offensively actually. His overall offensive proficiency and reliance in that area is more reminiscent of Green than Mobley actually. And Bagley may still be a good player if he can string more than a season or two of good health together.
