I've noticed that as well. I think of Hollinger as a pretty good source rather than one of these types that throws something crazy out there for clicks. Does anyone know if he is usually this different than concensus? His big board is way out there.

Some examples I thought were interesting:
    #3 Scottie Barnes
    #4 Sengun
    #8 Kuminga
    #16 Davion Mitchell
#32 Kai Jones (most I've seen have him in the lotto)
#35 Trey Murphy (as others like KOC are moving him into the lotto)
#40 Tre Mann (I've seen lots of talk about him going early 20's, often to Hou)

That just means that you should expect them to do considerably better than the other 19 year olds in the g league due to their alleged "blue chip" talent.

If they really were that good, you wouldn't need to make excuses for them.

Doesn't work that way. All players - even the greatest of all time have to learn how to adapt to the speed of the professional game and the jump from high school to G league is MUCH greater than the jump from HS to college(playing mostly other 18/19yr old former HS players). You even see that with Green's development because most scouting reports pick up on the fact that he seemed to "figure it out" later in the season after a bumpy start adjusting to a new type of game.

Take baseball - let's say you are a GREAT hitter in high school but the average HS pitcher throws in the 75-85 realm. Once in college that speed jumps up to the 90s and once in sr/elite college circles and into the pros, you are seeing the 100s being thrown. A n excellent hitter who is used to facing 80mph heat is going to take a second to get up to speed on hitting balls in the low 90s if they aren't used to it. Of course baseball players can go into batting cages to simulate the effect, but basketball players gotta learn it on the court scratching and clawing for a win like they do in the professional leagues because pickup basketball and scrimmages (even with pro players) doesn't have the same speed/intensity as ones where a player's playing time (and maybe even career) is on the line.

    Scottie Barnes I find interesting.

I have not seen these guys play very much. None of them. Just a bit in the NCAA Tournament.

But Barnes' write-ups remind me a bit of Draymond Green's strengths and weaknesses. Plays D, can pass like a muhf**ka....but he isn't a shooter.

Draymond Green dropped all the way to the second round. Maybe his canker sore personality added to that, I don't know, and Barnes won't drop much here, but I wonder if he's getting short shrift because he "can't shoot". Well, okay, but maybe he'll get better, and seems like he can find the guys who CAN shoot, and stop the other teams' "can-shooters" from doing their thing.

Well board aside he had a tenure with the Grizzlies and nothing of note really happened when he was there. I mean overall tehy got worse during his tenure. I think he was still there for the JJJ and Ja drafts, though.... which, on the one hand, JJJ was a decent pickup, especially when guys like Bagley went ahead and Bamba went shortly after. Otoh, they picked JJJ while Trae was still on the board (and they didn't have Ja at that point). Picking Ja the next year required no thought.

They had a couple late first round picks in some of the prior years.

He also clashed with the coaching staff a ton apparently.

In short, don't think his stint could be described as enormously successful, or enormous failure.

Look, if Detroit is actively looking at trading the #1 pick then they don't care about Cade. The Rockets should hold pact at #2 and gamble. Worst case scenario they end up with Green... but higher odds now that Detroit picks Green anyway leaving Cade for the Rockets.

Anything else is meddling with powers that we can't possibly understand yet.

I want Houston to put Green, Mobley and Suggs through hard workouts, and psychological tests. If anyone of them refuses to do that, then they should be struck off the list. That's the bottom line for me.

I think people didn't give much credit to Kawhi's ability to shoot well coming out of college. There are definitely issues with mechanics that can be worked out.

He's not going to give in, no matter how illogical his stance is, versus your stance being logical. I tried to spell this out earlier. You did a better job at explaining than me, but I gave up, because I realize I'm talking to a wall.

He just is who he is at this point. He'll bend truths, feign ignorance, or anything in between to try to make his point look legit.
