This fallacy of the NBA being a guard driven league should just die already. the players that have made the difference in the last decade of the finals have all been big forwards and centers. kawhi, Draymond, Lebron, AD and Giannis. stop with this guard BS. Draft Mobley and start with a BIG rebuild
Dude just leaving out Curry/Klay/Kyrie/Lowry/Wade smh LeBron is very much a "guard" offensively, Leonard is a perimeter scorer, Giannis is the exception but who TF is like Giannis?
middleton is the one taking all the clutch shots in 4th quarter tho. big men unless they are dirk cant be relied on in the clutch
You're right that the term is wrong but your premise is bad. It's a shot creators league. Bigs aren't usually that. What did AD do without Lebron. People use him as an example too often after 1 year. Your ass indeed
Also NBA is revising its rules starting next season to impact guard play because right now there are way too many star guards in the league because of the foul drawing rules.
HORRIBLE TAKE, Who taking the clutch shots for the Bucks? Kris. Where Ayton this series? What was AD before Lebron? Draymond? You ever heard of Curry and Klay???
Yeah well Giannis was considered a SF when drafted and they even tried him at PG. Even if bigs are as relevant as you say, it’s not the bigs that are doing what average bigs in the nba do right now. Draft for the future. Drafting a big who’s today just barely keeping up with nba players on the perimeter is poor planning. That trend has never stopped. Mobley is such an interesting prospect, but the more alarming news is that green is a hard worker on his game while Mobley would disappear at times in GAMES. When thinking of a ten year window, these traits have exponential benefits. No one needs to motivate Luka, Giannis, Harden. Your franchise player should want to go 100% all the time. Some players change and some players are just bored in college but it’s something to keep an eye on imo.
ITs a star league. They cater to the stars, they market on the stars, the stars generate the revenue and thats what its about, more than market or anything else. Where the talent is where the league goes. Jokic and EMbiid are showing that, as are curry and Dame and trey. If you have the elite elite talent, thats what counts... get the best players available
I'm just passing on what the numbers say, your arguement is with math, not me. Booker is 6th on his team in that metric BTW. FWIW I'd argue CP3 is the most important player on the suns, he's second in that metric.
Scottie Barnes. He is the spitting image of Giannis. 6'9 dude with enough agility to guard guys 1-5 while also being able to jump outta the gym for electrifying dunks. Has super high bball IQ esp on defense. Plays with a lot of heart and passion, always screaming and flexing on the court kinda like Giannis. His shot is HORRIBLE but it is there...again kinda like Giannis. His ft% is 69%, again kinda like Giannis. On the open court he is deadly AF and he was used as a playmaker in transition...again kinda like Giannis. In short I havent seen a dude who most resembles Giannis since Giannis. He is a lock at 5 if I were the Rox I'd trade down with Magic and get him+ take a flyer on somebody else. Bouknight, Kai Jones, Sengun, Giddey etc lots of intriguing talent on the board.
