People said the same thing about cars. Now people have car payments the size of small mortgages.

And a good majority of those people are in massive debt. That’s the definition of ‘not sustainable’

Oh I agree but our American society is based on consumer credit. The majority of our financial systems rely on that. If you are being offered 0-2% interest for big priced items the smart thing to do is finance instead of paying cash.

It's been sustainable since the 70's. As long as people keep making the payments, it's sustainable.

He could actually have something here if it was not so MAGA tinged.

I bet a lot of people would like to have a phone where everything was not tracked.

    LOL
Its a budget chinese phone you are paying a 400% markup on and the chinese are still tracking you.

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/maga-worlds-freedom-phone-actually-budget-chinese-phone

In fact, Freedom Phone appears to be a simple rebranding of a budget phone called the “Umidigi A9 Pro,” made by the Chinese tech company Umidigi. In an interview with The Daily Beast, Finman confirmed that the Freedom Phone was manufactured by Umidigi, but couldn’t say immediately which Umidigi phone it was based on.

The Freedom Phone’s $500 price tag would represent a substantial markup on the Umidigi A9 Pro. That phone is available on Chinese retail giant AliExpress for $120 — less than one quarter of the price of a Freedom Phone.

Any phone that truly offers freedom will likely warrant the 2k pricetag in order to make it the "most private" as possible. Many manufacturers and OS providers sell away bits to marketers or promise there's ad money behind the phones. Look for Snowden interviews on this topic if you're genuinely curious.

Even then, it's unlikely because cell phones are designed as tracking devices to its core and the more common it is, the more reason for people to hack or break it.

Um…All you need is a fairly new iPhone to prevent tracking since IOS now allow to opt out of app tracking with 1 tap of a button.

I finally cracked the 300 dollar barrier for a phone.

It was a refurbished Note 10 and I realize the difference between budget phones and the high-end ones.

There is a definite step-up in performance and features.

The only thing is I have to keep it in a case because of the cost and that takes away from why I bought it in the 1st place, the look of it.:(

Anybody have a foldable phone? I almost got a samsung one, but decided against it.

I like Marques, but really, 95% of the population wouldn't know the difference between a current phone and one 2-3 years old, and we're just now questioning whether you need a new phone every release? lol. For these people, they all do the same things probably equally-well for them.

    *still rocking my Samsung S9+*
