I think if you're the Rockets, the best trade would involve leveraging the pick that you have from Detroit, because it does handicap them, and I agree with other posters in that pick is great leverage. I think that something like 24, 2, and Detroit's first back to them would be my final offer, and otherwise I'd walk away and let them call you back if they didn't agree on the spot. Kind of like going all in and poker.

I don't think there's a great enough difference between Cunningham, Mobley, and Green to justify anything more than that. I think they all could be stars. I think there's a very good probability that at least two out of three of them are stars. So you just have to find that second star.

I also think if I were Stone, I would do everything I could to make a trade with the Pacers. I think number 23 and Eric Gordon can get that done. I think as you start your rebuild you need to leverage some of these draft picks into better chips, and I think this is a spot to do it. Particularly trading up with the Pacers.

I'd get their pick and try to draft Sengun. If you can come away with him and one of the big three, I think you have to be extremely happy. I think that would give you the potential to come out of this draft with two All Stars. I think you have to look to Boston as your example. Try to get a Tatum and Brown and turn this thing around quick.

If a great shooting coach could turn Giddey into an above avg shooter he would be a top 5 pick.

    Cunningham
    KPJ
    Wood
    Sengun
    Tate

This thing could get turned around pretty quick. Like within 2 yrs type quick. If I couldn't do the Pacers trade I would pick Sharpe at 23.

yeah, if he views Cade as the clear cut best player in this draft and a franchise changer, then he should be aggressive in trying to acquire him

I think it would require a future pick with very light protections at least in order to move up based on recent history

Mavs gave up a future top 5 protected pick to go from 5-3, and the pick ended up being Cam Reddish at #10. Philly gave up a very lightly protected Kings pick that ended up being 14th. Would a top 5 protected pick and giving them their pick back be the cost? Maybe 2023 top 5 protected plus their pick? I could live with that, especially if Stone is right and Cade ends up being the real deal.

    #2, #24,& Detroit's future #1 for #1, #37 & #42.

There are several second round prospects that I hope the Rockets are interested in and this accomplishes acquiring the picks to get them. I think/hope that the equity Detroit gains from moving up into the first round and their future pick is enough for them to drop back 1 spot. I am not sure I am willing to offer much more than this as much as I want Cade. I might be amenable to adding the Brooklyn pick from next season but that is really pushing it.

I dont know. Seems like for every Mobley post there needs to be 37 videos attached documenting every step he makes in one sequence just for someone to make a point. Its all speculation. I'll use a combo of my old ass eye test with some newer metrics to help ME come up with a conclusion - lay out the groundwork of the opinion, present it as best as possible and then continue logical discussion, but this whole argument has turned into Mobley guys rolling their eyes and saying "ya'll just like dunks" and then Green guys saying that Mobley is pretty expensive for a defensive specialist. What new information is going to be presented at this point? its just a war of attrition.

Benny Mac was not breaking dudes down the way Jalen is right now and it was a terrible draft pool. Kansas was a known product and the GM felt it a safe pick either way. Booms? Great Kansas really got him ready. Bust? Dang - how crazy he had all the tools.

In an ISO era Benny Mac was obsolete. Never paired with a good enough point to set him up for catch and shoots and never a good enough ballhandler to take matters into his own hands.

Have you REALLY looked a Green tape? Kid has counters upon counters in his game. If you are isolating a defensive comparison between the two players that may make more sense.

When is the draft again? I can’t take this chaos anymore.

Palillo in this video, "I think Cunningham slides in as a 2 slash 3, almost a point forward..."

    So he is a 2, 3, 1, and a 4? Got it.

Rox, including Ferntits, remember the closest they got was Harden (KPJ) and CP3 (Cade) running the show together with a big Capela (Wood). They realize having a playmaker for 48 min on the floor is damn near unstoppable. I think they are trying to recreate that and I 'aint mad at that.

They're going to have to give up at least #3, one of the Sex-Land bros and another pick. That being said, Detroit's needs are almost the same as Houston's so I still don't think they're going to trade down unless OKC gives them a Godfather offer.

Yep. Basically Pistons are really looking at OKC and Cleveland to give up a great deal for Cade.

Rockets sit back with Green available.

its still hard for me to envision a scenario where Detroit says "we'll pass on Cade, and are good with any of the next 5" which they'd have to do to accept an OKC deal. More likely, they're good with either Mobley or Green... but even then, you'd have to think Weaver has a specific target.

Its just hard for me to think you have the top pick and are like "whatever, give me more assets, i'll pick whoever is left".

    Dallas-Atlanta
    Philly-Boston

All 4 teams had specific players in mind.

I could say that Evan Mobley slots right into the Piston lineup better than Cade. I think its a crazy risk to take considering the history with Detroit draft flops, but if they can land a scoring guard (Sexton) plus a true center in Mobley then the construct looks better.

Take Cade and then look for a trade partner for Grant and the roster needs to be shuffled, is Cade THAT much of lock? Apparently not.

I think my basketball ops got maybe a little weak at the end and I said "We're doing this.” The one thing I believe you do in business & basketball is you never sit still. You always keep it exciting. Not only is it exciting that I think we're a better team but it's exciting for the fans. So we traded 5 picks to move up to number one. If Cleveland was sending two picks, we were sending three. If Oklahoma City was sending four picks, we were sending five. Whatever it took. We feel great about it. We feel great about Cade. It’s a great day to be a Rocket & Rockets fan!
