I want Jalen Green to be the pick if not Cade, but a lot of people in Green Gang are just annoying as hell now, and not just on here, but on Reddit and Twitter too…will either make sh*t up, or have the dumbest reasons or weakest rationale for why it shouldn’t be Mobley while hyping Green up to the heavens…dudes will mention Kobe or MJ like it’s nothing will trash Mobley all day long and then be like “I’m 60/40 Green” or “I’ll be happy with whoever the Rockets pick, we can’t lose”…STOP all that faking and fronting and let’s keep it 100
So was Harold Miner. Remember Baby Jordan? He was also a can't miss scoring prospect, the next Michael Jordan. Not that I'm saying Green will bust because do not believe that. But Miner was an even more explosive player than Green.
There's definitely annoying Green Gang fans, but I find the Mobley Mob to be just as annoying. They use the same tricks and will both make things up whenever it suits them.
lol well for me, i don't see how it's as ridiculous as @jiggyfly is making it out to be when i speak of Greens elite and rare versatile athleticism compared to a guy who is mostly known for jumping really high only. To me, it's all just on the tape. Green clearly has all time great first step explosion and incredible mid air body control and both powerful explosion and finesse movement. He probably has a slightly shorter vert than a lot of the best jumpers, but all around, the eye test is all you need. That's when i see the higher ceiling than guys like Booker or Beal which he thinks is ridiculous. Maybe it is, but no more than Mobley turning into AD or Bosh offensively or getting as ripped as Giannis. I am however 1000% certain the bbs will be in for YaoMingMania 2.0 when we are bombarded by obsessive Filipino fan boys. So those who think us in Green's camp are bad, just wait.
What's probably most annoying for yall is seeing the next Kobe or Jordan talk. I can see how that is something that would annoy and i won't touch it on a legacy vs 19 yo, but i can compare certain attributes and i have shut down how much of a difference in size MJ and Kobe's bodies are-combined with not believing Green is a full 6'5, MJ and Kobe at 6'6 also possessed shy of 7ft wingspans compared to Greens 6'8 and of course MJ had those gigantic hands. That's not a small difference in size. I then went on to compare body types and the muscularity of Michael at even a young skinny age to Green now, but then people showed both at 19 and it was closer as i did have concern over Greens small shoulders and his ability to ever develop lean muscle mass like MJ and Kobe. It puts into perspective just how different 19 is to 21 or 22(same in terms of skill to those who say KPj is better than Green), but i still do believe MJ and Kobe both had broader shoulders. So, while comparing any rookie to the GOATS is ridiculous, Kobe was once the next MJ too, but straight from HS. Kobe at 19 was as raw as Green and less explosive but bigger than Green. The Jordan like comp is from Green's mid air body control that young MJ was so smoothly famous for and first step, that's about it. The play here at 1:04 -although a miss - is something i can see Green pulling off or the casual Kyrie like reverse earlier in the video. Jordan just had this ridiculous swag where he just floats around effortlessly though. Also note young MJ's shot mechanics for those who worry about Greens. Clearly MJ worked on it and altered it quite a bit while Kobe's was more similar from start to finish. Ultimately, i see Green as a bigger Ja Morant with the potential to go crazy from the outside and develop footwork and mid range. A 19 year old Kobe isn't as ridiculous to the eye test, but the size difference and the mental make up to want to kill everyone and be better than Jordan on both ends is what separates a more physically talented player from ever reaching Kobe's level. Is Green as obsessed and maniacally driven to win? Were MJ and Kobe really that way post fame? Some stories about how MJ wanted to win at everything and Kobe wanted to go at everyone and would say he could beat anyone 1 on 1. Green's coach says he is competitive at everything he does. Green says he wants to be compared to Kobe, so that's a good start. With Booker entering his prime and Green entering the league, the next Kobe's are off to a good start unlike the next Jordans.
We will see. @D-rock has opposed me on every player I am high on: ApacheWarrior........................D-rock (select opposition) Jalen Green.....................................Evan Mobley Kuminga..........................................Scottie Barnes Bassey.............................................N Queta We will see who has the better careers of all 3 players in 5 years or greater. We will see if we get the Evan Mobley that had his 6'10"...235 pound brother taking on the tough assignments while playing zone defense scoring 16 points. or The Evan Mobley that played without his brother who then: scored 10 points (less points.....because tangling with a bigger opponent probably took the starch right out of him) less rebounds (because he had a big guy leaning against him and restricting his movement), less blocks (0...because he had the big guy leaning against him and restricting his movement) less steals (0....because he had the big guy leaning against him and restricting his movement) less assists (because his brother was not there as a scoring option) ______________________ In 5 years we will see which players rise to the top. I feel the 3 that I project will be busting those others in the chops. I'm very confident about that I stake my name to it. Despite what you hope. You suckers are helping build my street cred and just don't know it.
This. I am also starting to notice a lot of the people hyping Green don't know a lot about basketball, not all but a lot. Casuals if you will. I guess this is what happens with the rise of social media and how those things creates "stars". If Mobley is the pick can you imagine all of the knee jerk threads after every game? I shudder to think.
No one knows for sure which of these guys will end up being the better player, and none of us have access to the bevy of information and game tape that the front office does. It's not a guarantee that they'll get it right either. I feel like many are now obsessed with wanting to argue for arguments sake or a need to be right just so they can troll the other side for being wrong. We're in a great position to be in. Have fun with it, but maybe also be mindful of your fellow clutchfans.
Do you even know if actually had to do those when he did not play with his brother or did the guy that replaced him did those things? Who was the guy that replaced his brother and what position did he play? What was the guys size who Mobley theoretically was roughed up by because you do know not all teams have that guy right? Show some receipts dude. Also can you name the games he did not play with his brother so I can see what his actual averages are?
they do that at times…the Jalen Green not actually being 6’5 argument wasn’t based on anything, and 6’5 or 6’4 being undersized for a SG wasn’t factual…some guys like BTG go overboard…I feel like a lot of them harp on Jalen Green and his weaknesses because the sh*tting on Mobley is so constant and relentless, and a lot of it is false, dumb, or weak…it’s why I’ve found myself defending Mobley recently, and I don’t even want him to be the pick there’s way more Jalen Green fans on here, and some of them don’t just attack Mobley, they’ve gotta try and sh*t on Cade too to prop up Jalen Green…”Cade reminds me of Shane Battier” is some of the nonsensical stuff u see from Green Gang these days…there’s stuff like mentioning how Cade isn’t likely to be the best player in this draft because most years, the #1 overall pick isn’t the top player from his class as some sort of knock or “buyer beware” on him, and I’m sitting here like we have the #2 overall pick, and the list of guys drafted at that spot the last 20 years is mostly a depressing list, so if we’re gonna go there, does that mean we shouldn’t be so high on Green? the bad post from bloodwings19 on the previous page is an example of some of the outlandish things u will see said about Mobley on a constant basis…no facts or alternative facts, and terrible reasoning…now Giannis is 7’4, and we’re gonna act like he didn’t weigh less than 200 lbs when he was drafted while Mobley’s last recorded weight is 215 How many people are considered Mobley Mob on here? I feel like their coalition is quite small.
That's fair, I had to catch myself because the ridiculous hype behind Green was causing me to be overly negative about him. I still don't think he's the right pick, but I'm trying to just ignore hus crazy fanbois so as to not bias my opinion on him.
things had officially gotten outta hand for me when I saw a Tweet from a Jalen Green fan saying that Mobley will be nothing more than Chris Bosh with Bam Adebayo defense, so it should be Jalen Green all day imagine acting like Chris Bosh with Bam defense is nothing special if Mobley is the pick, he will get trashed, especially if he’s not balling from day 1
I've seen Green dumped on as well though. People questioning his intelligence/character, or saying he'd be a negative influence for KPJ based on absolutely nothing. They;re just making stuff up. I've also seen it said that at least Mobley won't be caught in the club or flashing gang signs as if to allude that with Green that could very well be a possibility. Believe me there's been plenty of asinine arguments on both sides.
I was most ridiculous with my Cade comp thinking he was the next Grant Hill(who was once the next Jordan). But, i tamed that and agree with the Tatum with more playmaking comps. The battier comment was a joke i think, but if serious, one comment doesn't mean all Green fans are tearing others down to prop Green up. If they are, it's a strategy originally used by Kobe stans and taken to new heights of hater by Bron fans. Green's height argument that i took part in was never to say he can't be a good player. He does appear smaller than his listed height to my eyes, and no official measurements worries me, but that's only to say he's not going to be the next MJ or Kobe if he's much smaller than them, but he doesn't have to be them. The league is ruled by mostly small guards now. Cade also appeared to me shorter than 6'8, but apparently he had official measurements that put him at 6'8.5 in shoes? Is that confirmed? As a 90s guy, i lean toward my realistic comps being Camby for Mobley and Spree for Green.
