He needs to stay out of KPjr's way this year.

That contract is going to be a sweet facilitating piece as an expiring.

A team like the Clippers has to be interested, star power at forwards needing help at point. He can be a 3rd banana for sure. Like honestly Dallas with Donic/Porzingis if they can figure out THAT relationship first...that sort of scenario. And then of course, somewhere that can handle his massive contract.

I think it comes down to him leading this team to another lottery pick, hoping he doesn't impart terrible habits on the young guys and then finding value from his massive expiring deal. Worst case scenario is spending 2 years and 90some million with him on the roster just to finally have some cap to spend by 23-24. We'll just be spending it to keep these young guys lol

It's really a cruel twist that his name is Wall. Because we've run right tf into one.

If he can come in and help the young guys out, help set up his team mates, and dont take useless shots. He could be a asset, he is highly overpaid obviously. He did score 20.6 3rd most in his career in 40 games. Maybe he can play 60 this year to help the young ins out.

I hope he picks up a extra step or 2. You never know, but with that contract, unless Newyork needs him. He is more than likey stuck here, He is no where near his former self.

He starting to look like Lou Willams lite. lol He no where his former self, and probably wont ever be.

He'll have a better season and I think at the mid season deadline we might find someone to acquire him without a pick going out.

I hope he's doing nothing but taking 3's this summer.

Continue to show Tilman what the worst contract in the league really looks like.

And continue to eat away at the development of young players.

    Just John Wall things.

If the team mandate is still to tank next year, I think he will do as he’s told and do his part to lead us to the abyss! If the team mandate is get into the playoffs (Ferntitts Fiasco), I think his play will be more respectable although not enough to get us into the playoffs!

I’ll be surprised if he’s traded next year and elated if he does! I’m not holding my breath though…o_O

The pessimism in this thread is almost as toxic as the rest of this forum who was maligning the inevitability of Houston losing it's draft pick to Oklahoma City.

John Wall, individually, in 2020-21 showed that he still has NBA talent. Inefficient chucker and inconsistent shooter? Yes. Team ball? Not often enough?

The reality is he came back from a devastating injury and still showed flashes of speed and brilliance -- the talent is still there. The problems are, yes, that contract but also...rust isn't the right word...more like he didn't feel comfortable in either being a distributor (the talent around him was dogshit) and couldn't reliably be a efficient scorer.

So unlike all the doom and bloomers in this thread, I actually think John Wall will have an even better season in 2021-22. More time to recover, an offseason to work on play style and conditioning, plus more talent around that he can (hopefully) trust.

Is he in the long-term plans? No, but neither was Westbrook. So instead of assuming he's going to be horrific next year, let's give him credit to prove that he can showcase his skills, at least enough to result in a trade or a buyout (unlikely) or can mentor Porter/Green.

Honestly I hated watching wall play but he averaged 20.6 pts and 6.9 assists after coming back from injuries. I think 2nd year will be better for him and hopefully he will return to the all star. That will allow us to trade him for actual value. I believe!!!!!!!

Stay away from the team, ask for a buyout.

He is not his contract. Him and his agent got someone to overpay for his service (the goal of every person in the world) and then he was injured (misfortune). He has returned to be a more than rotation worthy player and will be in the league for years to come. He is paid to be a player he never was. He will be around for a while because he wants to show the world his talent & possibly sign one last big contract. Chris Paul is setting the precedents by opting out to get resigned longer. Watch what Wall does…

No way a team gives him a contract that would pay him enough to make it worth opting out of that final year. I think he would be better off taking a buyout. I think he would prefer to get traded and play that final year for a contender and will try as hard as he can to prove he is worth trading for.

I agree wit the other poster about 18 ppg on horrible efficiency and r****ding growth of our young players. We won’t trade him at deadline and buyout negotiate begin after a timely injury, maybe a quad strain.

The team suddenly improves play and we end up with a mid lottery pick. Tillman, faces with the reality of his bargaining position and his reticence to pay good money to someone not not on the team, instructs stone to find the best trade.

We then trade wall and bucks pick for a young project and player with slightly lower salary but with two years left. Hopefully stone finds someone that will complement our roster.

I would be ok with this.

You fail to realise that John Wall's NBA talent is not only USELESS to a team who is looking to lose as much as they can, but is HURTFUL to the future of the organisation because him getting his comes at the expense of the future of the organisation who NEED to be getting as many touches and reps as possible.

I hope for John Wall to play well enough that he thinks he can get another big pay day and decline his player option for 2022/2023, thereby removing his salary off of the Rockets' payroll

This would be the best case scenario. Can we get him in touch with Chris Paul's trainer and dietician/nutritionist?

I have no idea how the salary cap works, but is there anyway we can spread out his contract over a span of years so the $44/$47 mil hits aren't insane?

Maybe that might be more of a sell to some team to take on his contract?

We have Augustine, Gordon and Wall. They're technically here to 'play' and not mentor.

But if more spelled out by Silas for mentor and the vets agree, it could help the young guards: KPJ, Armoni.. while they're still here.

Reminds me a bit of Sefolosha being a Swiss big brother to Capella.
