Dude can pitch, and he showed it tonight.

I wouldn't be judging any SP too harshly this year, let them get used to whatever it is MLB wants them to do now.

Should the Stros be on the hook for 300M? No. But that doesn't change anything.

There is no denying he brought it last night. While whether we payed Cole or not is irrelevant now, there is another player we have seeking those kinds of numbers. I don't think we want to be on the hook for $300M for CC either. Maybe not $240M either. Glad its not a decision I have to make.

The owners genuinely appreciate the serfs who worry about the owners' ever-increasing wealth not increasing fast enough over one or two odd 24-hour periods.

It will be interesting to see if Correa takes as long to recover as Bregman. Bregman apparently has a history of quad problems, though it never cost him much playing time until now. Correa has had a history of missing playing time and yet none of the "injuries" is supposedly chronic. But Bregman's big bucks start in 23.

Correa will want to play since it's his FA year and an extended IR stay will remind teams that as good as he is, he is typically unavailable for a large number of games every year which should affect his value on the FA market.

Financial motivation may be a factor, whether conscious or not.

It is interesting that those with wealth seem to understand financial discipline and those without it lack this understanding. But if we are not wealthy and understand, WE are the fools in their UNIVERSE.

Like I said before. He is a very talented pitcher that was good enough to get one of the biggest contract in MLB history. His 100mph fastball isn't going anywhere. He just needed to get used to the grip. When you are throw that hard, feel is really important so any change has a negative effect. He will be fine

Correa missing a week or two or three with Covid isn't going to affect his FA contract at all. If he has back problems or some other kind of significant physical injury, that would be a different story.

Gerrit Cole is hurt. This is why you don't pay a pitcher on a long term contract like this.

Cole was solid as an Astro. He was just passing through, and got the contract his agent bargained for.

Though, I’m just curious, which other team would have offered a contract in the neighborhood, to what the Yankees offered; I get the impression the Yankees often bid against themselves. They have the revenue stream to do it, but for other fan bases, it’s so irritating.

Actually the St. Louis extension worked fine. The second extension not so much.

Correa is just slightly older than Pujols was when he was due for FA in St. Louis.
