Sad but true. I understand the reasons behind his hire, and he is honestly a totally respectable stand-up man, and I liked it at the time as a short-term thing. I just wish he would stand up for his players every once in a while. It's shocking to me how a "player's manager" seems content to regularly watch them get ****ed over by umpires and just sit there. And I'm not even getting into game/bullpen management. I am fully expecting a new manager next year.
yep. Its ****ing painful. Very disappointed that we just lied down and made that cheater a hero on national tv. Shoulda been sitting dead red on that fastball all night. Instead we were timid and disgusting.
And we got Dusty sitting in the dugout "wishing" for things. Can't even be bothered to walk out and appeal to the umpire and stand up for his guys.
yeah those swings were so timid … What were you watching. Cole had ALL his pitches working and pitching with extra motivation. Jeebus man, elite pitchers throw elite games.
did you forget Yordan homered twice against Cole this year. go look up the highlights. I get it, losing sucks, and double sucks against NYY and Cole. but your takes suck.
Yeah that's great and all, and I realize he's not garbage just bc no more sticky stuff, but he had been struggling... and you go out and not only lose, you lose in the most pathetic, beta, cuckhold way possible. Houston ****ing Astros Baseball.
Has Dusty always been like this in his managing career? He's getting old. Maybe the doctors told him no heated arguments because it might be bad for his heart. I think everyone here is hoping for the Astros to win the World Series this year so he can retire for good and then the Astros hire someone else with more emotion.
So by this logic, everything we do and say here is a waste of time because aren't we just doing things for the sake of doing things since nothing said here has any affect on any part of the game? If you really thought I really thought there should be a line of coaches lined up at home plate...well, I don't know what to say. But there comes a time as a manager, you just got to go out, say your piece and defend your team (like Strom did around a week ago). I really like Dusty. And I think he has navigated the waters just fine with how everything has broke for the Astros these last two years (losing Verlander and Osuna to injury, Springer leaving, all the injuries/illnesses this year to major players), but I just would like for him to show a little life from time to time when totally egregious calls happen to his team. Just saying. Sorry that you have a different opinion, and that's fine by me.
You mean 4 straight ALCS, 2 WS, and one WS title Houston ****ing Astros Baseball? Have you seen New York ****ing Yankees Baseball lately? Or literally just about any other team over the last 5 years? Ya getting blanked by the yanks and especially Cole sucks but let’s not lose our **** over here. If Cole pitches like that every game he’s never losing again.
Just a ffew days ago Cole was getting booed and cussed mercilessly by his own fans. Such is baseball....
Lol. Nobody said anything would change anything that's already happened. If you've ever watched baseball before, managers occasionally come out and discuss things with the umpires when they feel their players have been wronged. If it could make the umps change anything, it would happen every other inning, if it didn't matter nobody would ever do it. You figure out the inbetween part for yourself.
And you see catchers(at least Maldonado)do the same thing. If he gets called out on strikes on a close but bad call, he'll say some words to the ump. He's not arguing but simply having a discussion and the announcers always say he's just letting the ump know that he expects his pitcher to get the same call.
Go away. Was last nights pitcher elite? How about the night before that? Has Cole been as “elite” in june or july against anyone else?
No. I did not forget. What is your point? What does that have to do with Yordans performance tonight? He looked defeated walking up there and struck out badly on 3 pitches. What does that have to do with a game in April? Its not MY takes that suck, bro. Not at all impressed with yours, if you really ever have one. Also. Buck will put a like on any post thats negative towards me so you have your fan club.
I'm talking about tonight and the last 3 games, when did I say a word about 2017,18,19, or 20? And also, THAT'S THE POINT. He isn't going to pitch like that again anytime soon. Nowhere close to that. But it had to happen on national TV against us, in the most embarrassing fashion.
