Everyone likes the prospects a new draft brings, but EG is a solid NBA vet and above average defender. He’s not a guy that needs to be dumped immediately. If the value is there, sure, especially since we are rebuilding. But it won’t be the end of the world if EG is still on the roster next year.

If KPJ is one of the three best players on this team in a couple of years, then the rebuild failed.

I assume so. Indy is projected to be above the cap around 112 M. LT would be around 132 M.

I did say on a playoff team. And if he's a top 2 player on a playoff team then the rebuild was a success??

I hope he will play well at the Olympics. This will give us a correct gauge what to expect from him this season, provided if he remains fit. His trade value might be best around the February deadline, if he's playing well.

The eternal problem of commenting on the forums, people who do not read and understand things in parts.
Once again ... Houston is a rebuilding team not an NBA finalist!
If you have a contending team and your bet is to win now, generation gaps do not matter because there is no long term.
No one is questioning the quality of Tate.

    Love this! So accurate

When you say no one is untouchable, What type of draft pick do you believe Kevin Porter Junior could net you?

In a perfect world, Say we draft Jalen Green at 2 .

What are your thoughts on packaging Kevin Porter Jr. And picks 23 And 24 And maybe another future first thats lottery protected- For the fourth pick selecting Jalen Suggs?

    This is a homerun

Maybe. But you also don’t want to get stuck in that 8th seed purgatory.

I’m envisioning still being bad next year. So the #2 pick this year and whatever pick we get next year should be two of the three best players on the team, with Wood assuming the third spot.

KPJ could progress enough, but I assume one of the future draft picks might supplant him. I hope he sticks around, though. I do like him and want him to stick with the team.

Suns and Bucks are teams built to win now not rebuilding teams!
Again, I am not saying that Tate is a bad player, I am saying that I understand if management wants to make him part of a trade for the reasons I already explained.

    Suns are NOW yes.

Their previous teams weren't. They were young, very hungry, but inexperienced.

It's It's they got (the much older) CP3 and Jay Crowder that put them over the edge.

    Thats my point.

The Bucks comparison is that there's a 3 and 5 year gap between Giannis, Middleton and Jrue.

It's like saying, well we didn't make it past the 2nd round the last few years, let's trade everyone but Giannis for picks. Instead of, let's go out and get a probable game changer in Jrue Holiday.

    Tate's 25.

Mario Elie was 27 before the even made the NBA. He came to the Rockets at age 30 and, being a hard worker, actually improved in his 30s while here. He won another championship with the Spurs at age 35. Tate could easily have a decade of decent basketball left.

That said, if Tate alone or Tate with some chips and beer can get us a decent pick this year, you take the gamble with the pick.

Which rebuilding team has all young players but no veterans? Seasoned veterans can help young players grow much faster.

Plus as others have mentioned, Tate is 25, not 35.

And here you are talking about eternal problem. LMFAO

By the time the KPJs Greens or Mobleys are about to make some noise, Tate is like what, 30 years old? He may not have entered his prime years yet. SMH

Yes and I've coached it too.

Dumbasses that just want to shoot or perform flashy passes without a care for clock or getting back on defense are a pet peeve.

But football was my best sport.

I'm just hoping Stone can find a 6'8/6'9 wing that can play defense, block shots from the weak side and knockdown open shots regularly. If they get pick 13 I hope Stone either drafts Segun/Murphy or Johnson.

Giddey and Green should NEVER be in the same sentence as Durant, Harden and Kyrie.

Problem is not just defense, Giddey is not even an average scorer.

You are losing your mind right now.
