He's about to be 26 in a couple of months, and he's very likely near his peak, very good role player, love the hustle and defense, but this team needs young upside players, I'd do 24 + Tate for #13 personally
Right and you need guys like him on a playoff team, but we aren't a playoff team and he's probably going to be walking to one for a nice contract in 2023 when he's 28 years old and past the age group of our core. When you are rebuilding you have to maximize your assets for potential. Tate with 2 years left on a bargain contract will likely not have more trade value then he does right now, if he comes in his 2nd his season and can't get his 3ball to fall, and next off season we try to move him with a year left on his deal, you're suddenly talking about getting a 2nd for him
I think he's an interesting prospect. High risk/high reward. I don't mind gambling on a guy like that. But I think there are lots to chose from
I don't see a fit there. Indy doesn't give a **** if EGo, who would be like their 5th best guard, is from Indiana. I just don't see anyone at 13 I love. The only trade up guy I see is Scottie Barnes, but we'd probably have to give up Wood to get GSW's interest (if Barnes even lasts that long).
Moody is better than Tate, but not by all that much. Kispert can shoot lights out, but Tate is a better and far more versatile defender than him. Wagner is a jack of all trade guy, not worth going after. Jalen Johnson is a high risk/ reward guy. I would only consider that if he has terrific workouts. I like Sengun's offensive smarts a lot, not his defense. Kai Jones is a poor ball hander, I would go after him, if it wasn't for this weakness. Addendum: Tate can't get us the 13th pick by himself. There may be a small chance of acquiring the 13th with Tate plus the 24th pick. I'm not sold on it.
Tate is about to be 26, is a 6'4 PF, averaged 11 and 5, shooting 30% from 3 last season, he's not worth a lotto pick in a good draft. Sorry for not going along with the echo chamber of delusion by thinking we're gonna get #13 with EG lol, but I just don't think like a homer when it comes to trade values
Tate seems like a fantastic glue guy for the next 8 years. A contender that had a lotto pick (like GSW that are only lotto bc of injuries) might think highly of a guy like that. But yah I don’t think other teams value him as high as we do.
Gordon, # 23 for 13 would be great but probably cost another future pick. People keep forgetting how great EG played before he got hurt.
great? He's been shooting sub 30% from 3 for the longest time as in the last 2 years. it's been bad for quite awhile. He was never near the label of great
