BUT Trae, Luka, and Ja came into the league as all-NBA super stars! If Green can't make the ASG and win the MVP in his first season then he's a bust!!!1
Why do ppl compare KPJ to Green? Of course KPJ is bigger and stronger, he's had a whole NBA season under his belt PLUS another summer of training before last season. Green literally was just in high school. The best thing to do is see his trajectory from early high school to present, and he's shown improvement every year. It's a given that Green will bulk up and get stronger with all the NBA resources available to him.
Of course you can have it both ways, the Rox job is to select the best player no matter what the player says. I'd be happy with either, but I'm def leaning more on Green now because I think his Ignite stint actually supressed his stats and I think KPJ needs a fiery dude like him as a buddy.
I live halfway between Seattle and Portland these days. The BBQ and Tex-Mex up here taste like ass. And kolaches are non-existent.
Actually if you are going to track trajectory of actually bulking up then Mobley has the advantage. He was barely 190 lbs his junior year in HS. He has gained good muscle weight since then.
I guess what I was trying to say is they are both projects versus Cade who is closer to a ready to go NBA player. I also fully get why people love Green even though I'm skeptical. The underlying natural talent is clearly there with him.
Ralph Sampson gained weight. So did Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. So did Yao Ming. So did KG and Durant. You are severely underestimating modern pro weight program.
Rockets need that defense more than they need 15 point scorer. Silas will give him bench role with that kind of contribution because he will get better defense, passing and fewer turnovers by playing Wall and EGo more minutes.
...but what context do you really have to make that decision? This is some of the first class of high schoolers opting to play with Pros in the G league rather than collegiate players. Isn't it likely that an 19yr old Green was playing much bigger, much faster, more fundamentally sound, and higher basketball IQs on the court than other collegiate players were playing? If you watch me play 2k on an increased difficulty level vs another person playing 2k on an easier level - can you really tell who the better 2k player is without any additional context? Generally we have metrics for how European league stats might translate +/- some margin of error to NBA stats and we have the same from collegiate players....but I don't think there is enough data to be able to approximate what does and doesn't translate to the NBA level for these types of players.
Both KD and Tatum are 2 way players. Poor comp. And Porter is light years better defender than Green, especially when focused. His rookie season he was one of the best perimeter defenders for Cavs, if not the best. And he was playing SF. Exhibit A.
The puffery on Green has been over the top recently. No one, I mean no one on CF, was this sure about him until just a few weeks ago. Now all these guys are guaranteeing scoring titles.
That is more essential for a big man than it is for a guard, especially in college. But really what I was talking about was skills, and their games.
I actually trust Stone in who he picks even though I think we are getting Green or Cade He snatched KPJ, KMJ, Tate, & even Wood. I think he has a solid eye for guys Morey has the Harden trade but I think Stone will be a better GM than Morey
