“The Rockets are increasingly comfortable with the offers on Oladipo in the marketplace, which include young players and first-round pick combinations that the franchise believes are suitable returns to make a deal, sources said.”

I'd rather just stay at #2 and take Mobley.

Only reason I could think of is Pistons want Green or Mobley. They would trade down to save money. 2nd pick salary is about 4-5 million cheaper than 1st pick. 3rd pick is like 9-10 million cheaper than 1st pick. Since Cade only workout for Pistons, other team don't know how he did. There really no reason for Rockets to move up, unless there is another trade.

Weaver is doing the right thing. I expect him to select Cade at the end of the day.

I'd rather just trade 23 and 24 along with Wood to get 3 and get Green and Mobley.

There's a bunch of examples of where the top pick is not a lock, but each draft class is different.
This year is full of talent.

I don't think it's hard to screw this up, we're not the knicks

If only that would work... I think it would take multiple, as in *many* of our future firsts to add to that base to get that high of a pick. A literal blow away, no-brainer deal for them. I just can't imagine Cleveland telling their 23-less fan base: "well, we had a (draft-hyped) Kobe, but we instead got a pretty good player that will be due a lot of money soon and a bunch of future lesser picks"..and feel good about that. We (Rockets fans) didn't receive that news very well. Fortunately, we landed the #2 or this fanbase might have been Texans-gutted.

If a multiple-pick is a load-up option - we would likely have a better shot at 7 with a Wiseman-centered deal but that again would take multiple, as in many FRPs. Or, we take back muchos negative contract(s) value(s). It's not my money, so let's do that!

Nor, do I see an all-in in this draft class as a valuable move for us. Not that it wouldn't have potential, it would. Simply, we would be banking much of our draft capital or salary flexibility on this class, and I think '22 is projected as a better class. We aren't competing for a minute, so let's choose one (my guess, not having a hammer or a nail: Mobley) and see what we have.

At the end of the day, we will have to pick at 2, a likely Mobley or Green, both, unfortunately, aren't reasonably an option (to me).

I'd rather keep our picks. Now, if we want to trade the Bucks or Nets picks that's fine. But, I want us to have control over our rebuild.

    Why do you say that?

It all depends on how the Rockets view Cunningham compared to the options at #2.

If the Rockets decide that Cunningham is likely a franchise altering player, and that Mobley and Green are not.... then it makes perfect sense to see the cost of moving up in the draft.

I agree with this- This is really the big question

Is Case that different than the other two or three if we are counting Suggs??

And what percentage Do we believe That the best player in this draft in three or four years is not one of the top four players?

Scottie Barnes or kominga or One of the half dozen combo guards?

I think there’s about a 35 % chance That the best player in the draft ends up being somebody not named in the top four

    This is a deep draft

If they feel that Cade Is far superior to everyone then you can make a case to move up .....I hope we are trying to trade back into the lottery.

    I want two lottery pics

for all the talk of Cade’s lack of athleticism, he still shot a high percentage right at the rim, and he had a 39% free throw rate…his midrange game needs some work

No midrange? Morey and Dan Tony would be all over him.

Do y'all think that the Rockets' pick will be leaked out in the weeks before the draft? Or will we just be left in the dark until draft night?

    It’s not nearly enough-

Your Not giving the third pick it’s proper value
If we could do that - We do it in a heartbeat

It would probably take all of that and next year’s first round pick
