I like JT, but Trey Murphy III would a better choice along with Isaiah Jackson. Lock down defense, 3 point shooting, rebounding, length would free up Green and KPJ. Jackson would help Wood out.
Deciding between Murphy and Thor would be an excellent problem to have. Thor is the better defender, by far. And he may have Siakam upside on offense. But Murphy is the more plug and play prospect. And Rockets could add Greg Brown in 2nd or UDFA to fill same role. Brown not as polished on defense but he is better rebounder, finisher and 3ball shooter.
We don't have a second .... yet (Tillman pulls out the checkbook) and Brown won't go undrafted in 60 picks. Maybe Toronto's #48 could be had but I still think that would be too late. Also, we need a banger to take some pressure off Wood for 10 minutes a game and there is only one quality banger in the low 20's Bassey. I'd also have Luka Garza's agent on speed dial the second the last pick is taken.
That would be my preferred draft. The good news about having back to back picks is that we don't have to worry about another team taking one of our preferred players in between. If we like two players and they're both still on the board at #23 then we can get them both.
Bassey is projected in the late 20's There are a few players in the 40's that look good enough for Tillman to buy, but how many rookies can you play?
He is all over the place. From late 20's to even 40's. I think he can be a solid NBA backup center. I believe he should go in the 1st round. Keep a couple of them with the Vipers for the most part, until they're ready.
Both good players but for me the decider is that Thor (fr.) is 2 years younger than Murphy ( jr.). I care more about upside than plug and play at this stage of the game. Don't think Brown will make it to UDFA but would love to have him on the roster. There's just soo much talent available this year I would love to pick up a couple of 2nd's to stock our bench. Would like to add Joe Wieskamp and one of Neemias Queta or Charles Bassey for some bulk on the roster. Possible 2nd rounders, Brooklyn has #27 and #44, if someone they like drops to #24 maybe there's a trade down to be had. Also New Orleans has 4 2nd's this year, maybe they would part with 1 (or 2). They might want some veteran help for Zion. We couldn't bet the farm, but we COULD send them the "House"!
Love Scottie in interviews. Bright guy, will probably be a great player. If it's possible to get him somehow, I'd love to.
