Remains as one of the biggest disasters not just in Rockets history, but in NBA history.

    Can't believe people celebrated this.

Pretty sure the consensus was CP3 had an injury prone career and would only get worse with time. I am glad for him that he had a turn around. At the time it wasn't considered the WORST trade in NBA history. It also wasn't considered a good trade at the time but it was a trade Houston felt they needed to do to keep Harden happy.

Was it considered the worst trade in NBA history at the time? No, but it sure turned out to be.

Was it considered by many to be one of the worst in recent memory? Yes.

It took precisely zero basketball knowledge to know that trade was terrible.

Not really, the consensus was that he was injury prone but management of his minutes (not MDA minutes which wreck everyone) and reliance on his main strength which was leadership, locker room presence and playmaking was reason to keep him as these dont really decline with age like athleticism. Furthermore it was established that him and harden could lead a close to 70 win team if the aforementioned were satisfied and harden would work on integrating him like he did in 18

What made it a no brained terrible decision was that on paper we traded for someone that was the opposite , a bonehead chucker that had shown time and time again he dominates the ball and his style of play never wins anything. Then there was the obvious pairing with Harden which would never work, they don’t compliment each other in the least. To add to the sea of red flags we gave up a number of picks.

It sounds harsh, but this was obvious to anyone that wasn’t a complete ****ing moron, Of which we have no shortage here, starting first and foremost with the owner. Scroll through this thread and you’ll find idiots left and right proving that if you’re that stupid you’re too stupid to know you are —and preach with the confidence of a Nobel prize winner

Harden's game would make any PG reconsider their duties, it is that dominant and stifling at the same time.

He needs spot up shooter PGs, Chris did his best.

"I know exactly what we need to do" - James Harden.

    You sure did buddy.

Not sure what I posted in this thread, but I will admit that I wanted us to trade CP3.

But then when we did, and this was what we got, I was like God damnit Haymitch, you happy now you moron?

It was mainly terrible because of the difference in bball iq between CP3 and Westbrook.

When CP3 was on the team, I just felt this confidence that the team wil play a smart brand of basketball. That went out the window with Westbrook.

Ignoring everything else, trading a top 5 IQ guard for a bottom 5 IQ guard was very concerning at the time.

But the downfall of the team began before this, with the Ennis, Shumpert, Knight, Chriss moves and burning extra draft capital to shuffle G League level players to replace our elite wing depth. This pretty much burned the rest of our draft capital to double down on dumb. Capela for Covington completed the series.

Trading Chris Paul was an absolute nightmare. I blame JH and the lack of balls from Morey.

It's because Tilman said "we would be exciting"

Westbrooks game is just so "exciting"

Some of you haters misinterpreted Tilmans comment about worst contract in the league. This comment was from CP3's perspective; Playing with JH and having a contract with Tilman is having the worst contract in the league.

Cf's so adamantly believed Shuffling guys like melo, Ennis, Shumpert, Knight, Chriss and that's supposed to be a true contending supporting cast. That was also just flat out embarrassing. It's so easy to replace role players like ariza they said. years later they finally did with RoCo but had to give up their starting center for it. LOL just plain stupid. LTS over everything. back to back to back to back champs

I remember being roasted for lamenting the loss of Ariza in multiple threads, saying he was the traffic director on defense and that his IQ was really important. We were so lucky to have a Tucker-Ariza combo on the wing with Harden.

Not replacing Ariza was the first Jenga block to be removed for sure.

Oh i remember very well. I remember all the threads about melo, mcw, westbrick, ennis, chriss etc. All the LTS moves. It's been a nightmare for 3 years and counting
