I’m just tired of seeing the grown men in the G-League argument…I never liked it C’mon, are we really gonna act like the G-League would’ve been too much to handle for Cade or Suggs? Zhou Qi, who is nowhere near the prospect of an Evan Mobley, and has the body of Chet Holmgren, averaged 11, 6, and 2 blocks and 12, 9, and 2 blocks with 59% TS both years he was in the G-League against these grown men, and those numbers were while only playing in a little more than half the game. Mobley couldn’t have put up at least 15, 10, and 3 blocks?
Yeah but a lot of people put up crazy numbers in college aswell without that ever translating to the NBA. Both aren't a perfect measurement but to me atleast, putting up good numbers on professional players is better than good numbers against college players. That doesn't mean that Mobley would have been bad against g-leaguers
Agreed. Cade made the biggest jump in questionable areas whereas Green solidified what we already knew about his abilities.
I think the G league is becoming a better league- And I agree all of those players could play and would dominate probably in the G league because they are different type of cats But against college players You’re still crossing over walk -ons at times... Do you think Gonzaga could compete?
Cade missed 13 of his 14 3 point attempts at the 2019 World Cup, and at the 2019 Peach Jam, made just 1 3 pointer in 6 games…then he goes to college showing a smoother stroke and shoots 40% from deep on good volume with many of those threes being self-created…he also shot 85% from the free throw line he turned a big weakness into a strength Green’s weaknesses like playmaking and defense are still weaknesses or question marks…everyone already knew he could shoot, score, and had supreme athleticism
Bosh was as important to that team as Wade, you can't just go by scoring when evaluating what a player means to the team success. Big men's roles are diminished offensively but having a great big man continue to team success as much as any other player.
That's fine, because scouts and GMs have to compare players across leagues regardless of whether you or the usual suspects "like it". It's part of the evaluation process..... That's not the argument but Cade is generally ranked higher than Green so it seems safe to think folks would think Cade would perform well against G League professionals. I would imagine many NCAA top prospects would do fine in the G League, but it's still hypothetical while we actually have a body of work for two top prospects that decided to go to the G League.
I think they could…Suggs and Kispert would kill it in the G-League…I think Ayayi and Timme would do well also KJ put up 18 and 11 there at age 19 G-League is just a bunch of guys trying to put up numbers so they can get noticed…it really is like Summer League to me…fast paced, not much structure, wins and losses don’t matter, and guys are able to put up numbers
people are so fixated on “grown men in the G-League” like it’s the top league in Europe or something and keep using it as 1 of the main arguments for Green when it really doesn’t mean much
The thing is the g-league stuff doesn't matter. No one in the top 5 is drafting a player going "What can he do for us right now?" Unless it's a Detroit (Darko) or GSW Wisemen situation where a good team has a top 5 pick and is going to draft to fill a need... These teams this year are looking for what guys can do 5 seasons from now, not today. That's why guys like Green, Cade, and Mobley would still be top picks coming out of high-school and skipping college.
Yeah its kind of uncanny. Look at the Top 5 High School prospects last year. They're the same prospects at the top of this draft. Not sure how often that happens but some dudes you just know from when they're Juniors in High School. Top 3 were Cade, Green and Mobley.
So you don't really want to address anything and just keep repeating the same weird talking points..... Again it really doesn't mean much since pro scouts and NBA GMs take the G League or other pro league competition into consideration when evaluating prospects. You are essentially a talent evaluator from 2005.
Yea scouts and GMs disagree with you but then again you haven't understood why you would take competition into account .....
