Too bad. Been thinking lately that movies these days have a Straight to DVD quality with a much larger budget. Still believe this is the result of working remotely where Meh is Good Enough since there aren't people around to hold you accountable to do your best.
Who are those guys? I am not saying they are not good reviewers but I realize a lot of these youtube guys try to be too clever and like to crap on everything to show how smart they are. I have a few go to places like Vulture NYT and Sepinwall.
Chris Stuckman is a pretty good reviewer and I like how methodically breaks down movies. I think they are both pretty fair with most of their reviews.
I will watch because I like a good reviewer and need someone new. I'm just jaded by the professional contrarians.
Stephen Dorff Calls ‘Black Widow’ A “Bad Video Game”, Expresses Embarrassment For Star Scarlett Johansson https://deadline.com/2021/07/stephe...ideo-game-oscars-embarrassing-1234786268/amp/
I was impressed by what Dorf did in True 3, they did a lot of nuanced stuff on race relations with him and Ali, great acting. With that said he just comes off as a bitter old man with this, some of the best things in entertainment is on those little boxes and it's a great medium for actors to display their talents.
Not even 10 minutes in and i'm ready to turn it off. To be fair I was expecting this to be terrible with just Scarlett Jo... but it takes it to a whole other level when I come in with zero expectations and within 10 minutes I'm already disappointed. I'm so glad I downloaded this and didn't spend money in the cinema. Marvel trending downhill fast.
Watched it last night, I enjoyed it for the most part. I'll say the script is weak, the pacing isn't great either but it works mainly because the cast is pretty solid. Florence Pugh and David Harbour are fun in their roles, Rachel Weisz is pretty much wasted though. The action is all the kind of CGI stuff you expect from these, sort of instantly forgettable but they do mix in some Borne style fights. This movie would have made a lot more sense if it would have been made and released when it was set, after Civil War. Releasing it now kills most of the stakes since you know nothing major is going to happen and how it all ends, more of side quest type deal.... B
Stuckman isn't really a contrarian, FWIW. He likes a lot of big, dumb movies and he seemed genuinely ready to like a Black Widow movie.
Ok that's why I backed off, having an issue with Taskmaster being female stood out to me but that was not him.
