The country was not set up against black people it was set up to keep a certain set of people in power, race be dammed. This is why CRT gets a bad rap because people like you misrepresent it and use it to shame. Blacks are not the only ones that suffered because of how the country was set up.
I taught Texas history and yeah you are right the slavery aspect is not taught and there were a lot of factors that contributed to the war, slavery was a part of that. What really is not broached is the fact that Texans were doing the same things that people are railing against immigration today. Actually slavery is rarely talked about in Texas History but amazingly Juneteenth is part of the curriculum.
The fact that establishment whites have gotten control of the narrative and twisted it to their own narrative is pretty on point…. white establishment telling minorities how to feel and act is pretty on brand.
Kind of the same thing..... were only blacks counted as 3/5s a person? But CRT isn't just about blacks, it's just they are the ones most affected. CRT is about how institutions can cause discrimination, which is obvious.
I'm saying it shouldn't matter that the words being used are critical race theory. Look at the actual school curriculum. That is what people are objecting to and calling it critical race theory because that is what Tucker Carlson or whoever called it. Their work is being used in schools. The outrage isn't false, it is just called the wrong thing. They should be protesting the teaching of racism in school, but they call it critical race theory instead. We may disagree on what the minumum level of humane treatment required is as well, but that is probably beyond the scope of the discussion, so fair enough. Murder is illegal in all 50 states, in all cases using facially race neutral language. This has a radically disproportionate effect on black Americans, far more so than any proposed change to voting laws we have seen. Does this racially disproportionate outcome mean that murder should no longer be criminalized? Is outlawing murder racist? Lending based on credit scores has a racially disproportionate outcome. Should lenders be required not to consider credit scores? Are credit scores racist? These are not like the literacy tests of old that were gamed to cheat black people out of voting, they are actually neutral laws that any person can comply with using minimal effort.
It's not really the same thing at all, blacks counted as 3/5ths because they did not want the south to have more voting power than the north, like I said previously it was about keeping power in the hands of the persons who have always had it, the same as only landowners being allowed to vote. That's why you can't teach history through any kind of lens you need to look at history in the macro.
Their work is not being used in any curriculum in any public schools and even the thing you think is being taught is not CRT but a bastardization and that's only in a handful of places. The outrage is very false.
Their work is being widely used in faculty training sessions across the country which then trickles down into the classroom. One school in the Cupertino Union School District reportedly did a privilege recognition exercise in Math class, which is right in line with their teachings. The Cupertino Union School District is the largest public school district in California. Apparently you missed the point where I said it is not CRT that is being taught, but that pointing that out is non-responsive to the actual complaint people have, which is teaching children to judge people by race.
LOL... here's the story that sm is referring to... my wife's parents used to live next to Meyerholtz. https://www.foxnews.com/us/cupertino-elementary-students-race-oppressed
It's not being widely used in faculty raining sessions you can count how with one hand. The bolded makes my point one school and reportedly so you don't even know if that's actually true. I am also against and curriculum focusing on race but its not being done on any grand scale and its not CRT.
I don't have access to every lesson plan and faculty training manual. I searched for a couple seconds and found examples. Moving the goalposts is not generally a well taken debate tactic. The school doesn't deny it, to my understanding and the lesson plan apparently was changed subsequent to the story breaking. I wasn't in that classroom, so I suppose I cannot personally verify it's validity, but I also can't personally verify that we dropped atomic bombs on Japan. We rely on reporting to determine what happened when we weren't around. Do you have an evidence the story is false? Do you have some collection of all the lesson plans and teacher training presentations in America? I would love to know exactly how many teachers are using this information. Is there a searchable database that is publicly available?
You don'e have lesson plans yet you claim it's widespread. The school does not deny what? You sure like to use supposedly and apparently a lot, that's also is not a well taken debate tactic and where did I move the goalpost? No I don't have collections of all the lesson plans but I am also not the one claiming this is widespread, if it was you know we would hear about it because people are actively looking for this stuff. I would also like to know so people like you could actually use numbers instead of resorting to supposedly and apparently.
How does critical race theory have anything to do with the Soviet Union? Russians are the most racists people around. That weird AF. I say this as a person who thinks viewing things in a very myopic lens is dangerous when it comes to race and discrimination.
