With JT Thor still on the board, I would have taken him. Also, what ever happened to Jaden Springer. Falling to second round ?
So Green has the solid shooting against NBA level completion from FT and NBA 3 line. Everyone raves on his desire and drive and he has all the natural athletic gifts you could want in terms of bounce, first step, and overall explosiveness. If he went to college he’d be the # 1 pick no question. He would have destroyed the NCAA. Mobley on the other hand has reports of playing timid when he should have been dominant, concerns over his frame and strength, concerns over his desire for the game at all, and he was a 30% 3 shooter from the college line but he should improve because you know improvement is always guaranteed. Why is this even a debate? If there was no Green and the choice was between Mobley and Suggs then I get it. Suggs has a questionable shot. But I don’t see the questions with Green and I hate well take the big guy because he might be a unicorn like AD or Bosh when that works out like 5% of the time.
It's to a point where I hope Detroit doesn't overthink and just chooses Cade. I want Green. I think he's going to be the lone superstar of this draft class.
I’m past the point where I am convinced Green is the pick over Mobley… I am now at the point where Green is overtaking Cade which is definitely confirmation bias because we have #2
it's probably going to end up being the right choice and he ends up being the better player out of green, mobley and him when something is a significant favorite on this board, it typically is the wrong side. it's been that way for a long time. And when you're talking about a draft where most guys in the draft never reach their "high ceiling", we see the same thing every year. overhyped picks that are heralded as the guy and most casuals just follow along bc they're told this guy is the next one. And when you redraft, it's nowhere near close to how it should have been
Can Cleveland hurry up and trade us their pick already so we can take both and kick start this rebuild.
How do we think this is going to go? Even is Silas and Stone find their guy is there a chance Tiddlywinks overrules them and drafts whichever guy he wants?
Interesting about the free throws. Ralph Sampson, three time College Player of the Year, was mediocre from the line at Virginia. He was mediocre from the line as a pro, as well. Just something that popped into my head when I read your post. Maybe I need my head examined.
Do players develop moves in the pros? It always seems like players EXPAND their moves, but does Mobley have any or is he a fresh slate? We've seen those body prospects before. It takes more than freakish athleticism to develop moves. A lot of it is developed at a young age or is just instinctual, IMO. If he is just an athletic big with a nice touch, then he is never going to be much better than Capela, IMO. I don't think you can teach someone to move like Hakeem. That came from years of soccer (footwork). At first glance, my impression is Anthony Randolph.
Fertitta may want to attract Filipinos to his restaurants, so he'll probably go for drafting Green. He seems more marketable, too, so, there's that.
YETTI SELECTION :- Rockets need Height , good Minds and Talent and strength. We need players which will fit and balance with our very small team. #2 Mobley, #23 Mann, #24 Maker.
We can worry about size at 23 and 24. We are looking at superstar potential when we draft #2 and Green is a higher probabality of that. Fit with position shouldn't matter at such a high pick. That's how you get Sam Bowie.
Started wanting Mobley, now currently siding with Green for more firepower (watching the playoffs Booker and Trae Young). Today, I am feeling the notion of Mobley and Woods driving to the basket off pick and rolls they would both be unstoppable going to the basket. I think later on you can find your perimeter player to run your offense through. I think the jury is still out on KPJ 51 point performance was nice, but that came off a lot of threes where they were not falling for him all year.
