I was just thinking about what an absolute shame it is that the Angels have 2 of the most unique talents in baseball history (Ohtani and Trout) and aren't even sniffing the playoffs. They should have some money to spend and if I were the Angels owner I would go as ALL IN as any team has ever gone all in over the next 2 seasons. Scherzer, Correa, and 2 other MoR SP would make them an actual contender instead of the half-assed loser they've been.
They have developed a shockingly minuscule amount of pitching in the past ~6+ years They sunk huge money into Upton and Pujols Outside of Fletcher and Walsh, they haven't developed any position players of note Looking through their recent rosters, they are an old team, they just replace 1 middling vet pitcher/player with another every couple of years They have not finished above .500 since they dropped the "of Anaheim" from their name I imagine it has to be massively frustrating for their fans. Reminds me of the post-05 until teardown Astros, rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic and such.
Idk , have the angels had a draft where they didn’t manage to sign a guy in any of the top 5 rounds of the draft ? I’m pretty sure we did that , right ?
Imagine Ohtani in our lineup. I know we didn't have the Japanese population to entice him, but part of the reason why he wanted to to be an Angel was to learn from Trout. As an Astro, he would have learned from a team of great players that weren't as naturally gifted as Trout is. But then again, we wouldn't have room for Alvarez.
I remember I was furious they didn’t sign Aiken . The lunhow hate in the media was in full swing and I was like “no one is gonna sign with us , this will hurt our reputation “ not my best take thank god for breggy
You can't win every trade. I just didn't think much of Pruitt to begin with so seeing Battenfield dominating in the minors stings even more. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/03/gm-trade-history-jeff-luhnow.html 2019-20 Offseason Acquired LHP Blake Taylor and OF Kenedy Corona from Mets for OF Jake Marisnick Acquired RHP Austin Pruitt from Rays for OF Cal Stevenson and RHP Peyton Battenfield
If true, and it holds, this is good news for his ability to keep his delivery repetitive and throw strikes.
I would have rather brought up Martes for a day since he was already on the 40 man. He pitched on the 28th so he had a day off. Then you would still have Martes and Hartman wouldn't be on the 40.
Can't keep 'em all, and those guys are just roster filler, if they get DFA and claimed, then so be it. There's no, zero, no, way they were going to promote Martes to the bigs over someone else who actually has his ****ing **** together and has worked to get that close. That's a slap in the face to every minor league player in the system.
