Harden, heck even Karl Malone, being analogized to those two, or any two political leaders, let alone with their resumes, is silly, folly, inane.
damaged goods? It's plantar fasciitis. that isn't close to damaged goods. It's pain tolerance and rest so nah it didn't really matter. He was dealt for the simple fact tilman made the dumb decision of forcing westbrick to fit because it was so atrocious to begin with
Without trading Capela, we don't get Christian Wood. Capela -> Robert Covington -> Last year's 16th pick (Isaiah Stewart) -> Christian Wood Capela is better defensively, but I'd still prefer Wood over him for his offensive skill
Capela continues to be wildly overrated. His SportsCenter moment doesn't begin to compensate for his borderline unprofessional level of effort on so many possessions.
Well yes, but also D'Antoni's system doesn't allow for 2 non-shooters. The idea was to maximize the effectiveness of Westbrook as a non-shooter by giving him freedom to attack the ring while preserving the 3-ball threat. If Capela and Westbrook couldn't co-exist (under MDA), then bringing in a long wing who could protect the ring made some kind of sense (under MDA). I hated the move! But loved getting RoCo and seeing small ball work for a little while. Unsurprisingly D'Antoni's system failed in the playoffs as the little guys ran out of gas bodying up on bigger "small" players.
Nothing was traded for Wood, he signed here. I know that Ariza was traded to give us the room to sign Wood but it's intellectually dishonest to equate anything to trading for Wood. At the end of the day, he signed here. Too many people have been stuffing moves like that together. It's like when people say we traded Allen for KPJ.
exactly, capela got us wood. so why is anyone here complaining about this trade? its not like we were going to win with capela anyways, now we got a better player in wood on a cheaper contract too. hawks got lucky getting past the 76ers. its not like he was shutting down embid or anything.
The Capela trade was supposed to be followed up for a trade for another big which never materialized. Wood was close to being a Rocket a half season early. The Pistons GM stubbornly held on to Wood then was fired in offseason.
It's the same thing man you are saying big doesnt equal large. You have to look at everything via cause and effect. If X didnt happen would player Y be here? Yes or No? Whether you signed him or traded for him if its a prerequisite for X to happen then he may as well be included in the trade package. From what happened with Wood he signed with Houston but that was only possible cuz we traded 16th pick and Ariza for him. It's called a sign and TRADE meaning he was literally traded its in the name of the transaction. Suppose we had Capela would Wood even look at us as a destination? Prob not he wanted to be a starter and get a larger role.
No. Hopkins is a hof type wide receiver that got traded bc we had an ego manic hc/gm who go his feeling hurt, so he lashed out and got trade raped. Capela is a serviceable center that looked godly bc thats what the beard does. He got traded bc Westbrick can't shoot clogging up the paint. We got value from capela, we got trade rape and got jack sht from the Hopkins. U want a better thread debate, cp3-wb trade vs Hopkins.
I thought the Rockets gave up too much in the Capela-Covington trade. Covington was not impressive during his time here. However, he eventually turned into Wood and a first round draft pick, so at least the trade is redeemable.
Capela couldn't space the floor. Covington did do that. Morey's inability to convince Tilman to acquire a backup center ruined our chances. His injury wasn't healing either like you said.
They had too, because of Capela's injury. Wood was available, once the Pelicans dropped him. He was playing very well for them. His offense and height in the front court could have helped us. Ro-Co could have been retained. PJ would have saved stamina for defense. Morey missed the boat.
Who here actually has evidence that Harden "wanted" Worstbrook? The rumors that Fertits wanted Westbrick make way more sense to me than those that Harden did. Harden liked and listened to Morey, and it's pretty well understood that there's no way Morey wanted Westbrook. It makes far more sense that Fertitta thought Westbrook would sell more tickets after a down year by a "boring" Chris Paul. I'm sure Harden signed off, but I'm very skeptical it was his idea. Those same people who claim Harden wanted Westbroke and that they're best friends one year later were writing that they hated each other and that's why WB wanted out... We've already seen so many of these rumors all but proven false by the players themselves (including the ones that were traded to worse teams and should be salty, like Paul and Westbrook). So what makes you guys think you can believe any of them?
