Hartman has had decent numbers, he’s stretched out. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he could be a consistent 5 ip 3-4 er type of AAAA SP.
Yeah there are still effort and personality issues there from what I understand. He is a very puzzling player because he was known as very coachable and a hard worker in the lower minors. Then he had some degree of success and decided he didn’t need to listen to his coaches. He will always be a puzzling case to me, because of his apparent major personality change.
Jimmy Endersby walked five and struck out two, but he also allowed two hits and threw five shutout innings for Corpus. Yohander Martinez also hit his first home run of the season in the first game of Fayetteville's doubleheader.
I would really like to see Norel Gonzalez, Scott Schreiber, Enmanuel Valdez, and JC Correa each promoted up a level. They all have very encouraging underlying stats but need to be at a higher level before they can really get noticed. Correa especially has been a pleasant surprise. He's played all around the infield and has walked almost as much as he has struck out. I think he would really shine in Asheville as his average to below average power would play up in their park. He's obviously not a top prospect and pretty unlikely to reach the majors but I do think he could at least reach the upper levels next year. Gonzalez and Schreiber are just too old for their league and really have nothing but downside at their current level. I wouldn't actually mind if they demoted Kessinger down to Asheville and replaced him with Valdez. Kessinger (like CJ Stubbs), might benefit from the confidence boost of the offensive success he'd likely have back down in High A.
Y'all might have talked about this yesterday, but it's odd that Hartman was called up, right? His numbers are solid enough in AAA, but doesn't seem like it would alleviate the potential 40-man crunch that's coming (and now Houston will have to DFA him too). Like, why not just call up Martes to eat a couple innings? Maybe it's a reward for being a good farmhand lol?
imo, probably bc he's stretched out and was available to pitch multiple innings if needed. More of a matter of convenience than anything. Maybe Conine (which would have been much more interesting) would have gotten the call had they needed an arm earlier in the week.
It’s also possible that they are confident Hartman would clear waivers so he could be DFA and not lost (unlike other stretched out options not on the 40 man like Conine, Dubin, France, and Donato).

Apparently the Florida Complex League (formerly the Gulf Coast League) started play on Monday. The Astros are 1-2 after a 10-3 loss to the Cardinals. Yefri Carrillo was the winning pitcher in his first career pitching appearance on Monday. He originally signed as an OF out of Venezuela but never got his bat going. The league structure is more or less the same as the GCL's. Looks like complex-level games are apparently 7 innings, however.
All I could find was this. He's not used to playing this many games. And obviously the two year layoff hasn't helped.
Matthew Barefoot just hit his 11th home run of the year. 2-run blast puts Asheville up 4-0 in the 5th
Wilyer Abreu hit his 4th home run of the year to seal a 7-4 Asheville win. Could work his way into fringe territory like Bryan de la Cruz. EDIT: Speaking of de la Cruz, he hit his 7th homer for Sugar Land tonight.
