Well I was originally trying to just use SOS of the top 25 ranked schools.... but you keep changing the argument so I have try and keep up.... Gonzaga and USC didn't have a very impressive schedule.

You said... "irrelevant"... now it's a "big deal".

I just keep saying "data point"..... Again YOU keep changing the argument which is very telling.

It's because it's hard to know what is real and what will translate with these tall, lanky unicorns. There's so much variance to what Mobley will actually be able to to do at the NBA level.

you know watching them more, Mobley actually plays a lot like Wood on offense. Very lanky that likes facing up from 3 point line and mid range. Too weak to really get in good position down low so they both shoot that janky mid range that is very inefficient. They even have similar shooting forms.

Mobley is a lot better at rim protection and moving his feet on defense though.

The only reason I would draft Mobley is for his defense, that will cause teams problems of how versatile he is. Kinda meh on him developing his offense. I feel like his ceiling on offense is Wood now, if he can develop better touch around the rim and shoot the 3 better.

I get it, I'm playing devils advocate because me and you both know those other dudes are killers, but they had tough years and it wasn't an indicment on them. Now to add to that, I'm makign the case that Hoiberg, boylen, and Donovnan along with a rotating inconsistent young roster has kept him there where as LAvine himself has improved better and its not just stats, you can see hes found a pace, a timing, and efficiency when on the court. Hes showing the markers of moving to a perennial all star as he is making the game easy in choosing his shots.

And I agree that lavine isn't our fit now, but I would still take him bc I think hes young, I think he can also accelerate the culture just bc of how he develped and improved inspite of bad conditions will be an influence on our young guys. And furthermore, I think green may very well end up like him and I'd consider that a success. And thats what I was wondering, if green ends up llike LAvine. an all star level scorer, would you be disappointed?

I think the same with beal. He hasn't done it, but when I watch him play, with the right roster I thikn he can be a winner. IT isn't that definitive to not consider his team. Sabonis and Randle both exceedd my expectations, but yea I'd also really think before giving the max but the way the money is going, they 'll get theirs an finding talent is the hardest thing. And I agree, you put lavine and beal aroudn embiid. They are sniffing the ECF or finals this year.

So 100, Green is the right guy for us, especially now, but my curiosity is if green ens up Lavine 2.0, or Beal 2.0, both are fair comparasions especially beal, does that mena you'd be disappointed? I think thats a W. We all want the next kobe or what not, and who knows what his limitations are. I'm actually one who thinks because he chose the gleague, played well, got better throughout the year I like the idea that he'll have accelerated development and perspective. So we may sniff greatness and I Certainly hope so. But if he ends up 'just' like lavine or beal, I still consider him a success

I didn't change the argument, but I feel like you used that as if trying to say Mobley didn't go up against stiff competition. He did. Their SOS wasn't historically bad or anything, they just scheduled cupcake games at the start of it as some teams do to ease into a season.

Not a big deal and irrelevant. I didn't change the argument you're just not hearing my point...which is it doesn't matter. If it did, many mocks would have Green higher on their big boards and they don't. I keep saying over and over that it simply doesn't matter, Green could come out of highschool and still get picked in the same spot. What part of that argument changed?

Yeah, and as I've mentioned before, this can be said of Green too. No one actually knows what will translate in the NBA and how these players will react to the inevitable humbling that they'll get.

if Jalen Green were to become a Zach Lavine clone, I would not be disappointed in that outcome because Lavine is certainly no scrub, and a lot of #2 overall picks don’t reach that level

However, if after years of rebuilding, a Zach Lavine clone was the best that we ended up getting from years of suck and that’s what we’re building around, would I be disappointed? Yes, unless they are able to acquire better via trade or free agency to surround him because Zach Lavine as your best player isn’t taking u anywhere. U aren’t even guaranteed to be .500 with him as your best player. Lavine is not a franchise player. He’s not even a top 20 player currently. He may never make an All-NBA Team.

Bradley Beal is also a great outcome for a #2 overall pick, but just like with Zach Lavine, that is not the guy I want as the best player on the team…the impact just isn’t matching the gaudy statline

best case u do what PHX did with Booker after many years…although PHX would’ve been a bottom seed playoff team last year without CP3 if Ayton didn’t get suspended for 25 games, it’s CP3 who pushed PHX from fringe playoff team at best led by Booker to the top of the West because Booker is still the same guy he was the last couple of years

I don’t think we’re getting a franchise savior from this draft which is why I’m gonna need us to suck next year and maybe the year after that as well…if we get a Zach Lavine or Beal from this draft then great, but we’ll still need a lot more

Lets assume neither Green nor Mobley will be top 10-15ish player in the league great but rather very good players similar to Lavine or Bam. Would you rather have the scoring abilities and offensive production or the defensive and offensive versatility?

Choosing Mobley/Bam-type solves/mitigates the major problem every team faces in the league today - High pick and roll defense. Mobley would also provide rim protection along with moderate offense. However one big key is, offensively skilled and shooting bigs are also a rare commodity.

Choosing Green/Lavine-type solves the issue of generating offense. You'll have an elite offensive scorer on the perimeter, a neccessity to any good team. Wings with size, shooting, athleticism and ball-skills are the most valuable commodities in the NBA.

I haven't followed either of these players much, but from the various scouting reports and analysis I've read - while Mobley/Green might have the potential to be even better - them turning into Bam/Lavine level players is a real and highly positive/hopeful outcome.

Personally I'd rather draft the Bam like player than the Lavine/Beal type player (its close). Its exceedingly rare to find a big that is a B on offense/shooting/skills, while also an A+ on rim protection and perimeter defense.

You bring up another example that might be fitting. Booker. He was a loser in every sense while putting up amazing numbers and clearly could get it done on offense, then the right team developed around him, interjeted a veteran superstar in cchris paul who ayton also says was the best thing to happened to him in his career and then now they are really proving doubters wrong. So thats why I say guys lke beal or lavine who are really performing and putting up offense that you don't see daily, they have that part figured it out but with the right roster around him. Whose to say if Beal got Paul instea of westbrook that they don't take that same jump. You just need that cohesion somehow to let their talent flourish. I didn't think of it because booker is playing so well, but thats another mold that Green can follow. My only concern with green is the lift on his shot if he can get it off at this level, but Beal has a similar way of shooting, so did kevin martin, an he performed well against the dogs out in the dleague fighting for their lives to getinto the nba so I think he'll be fine.

I don't think we're getting a franchise savior, a luka or a lebron, but I do think we can get an all star in green. I think we both hope he surprises us into a super star, but I think its reasonable to expect that the kid will get buckets. I think he's better than Anythony edwards and that is promising. And from then, I agree with you, I percieve another year of rebuilding an next year hopefully we hit a strong draft class and can catapult us into the playoffs. The league is just getting tougher and more competitive, the west is very very hard to get into. Are we really better than the grizzlies youth, Moran, JAckson jr to the point where we can surpass them? It will be tough.

This dude gets it. Neither Mobley or Green may become the franchise player AND THAT'S OK. You just get the best player available and keep rebuilding.

It took Kobe FOUR seasons before he averaged 20 PPG.

Lavine took FIVE seasons before he did same.

Everyone saying Green will make an immediate impact and be a 20 pt, or even sillier, average 25 points are simply setting him up to fail.

I even read somewhere that Green was faster/more athletic than both MJ and Kobe.

    CF is going bananas.

They have to stick to their agendas and narratives.

It's really about preference but lying or exaggerating to put down a young player because you prefer the aesthetics of another is ridiculous.

What are these defense prospects that came in and immediately and made an impact? Mobley fans think defense from NCAA translates immediately.

I've read that Mobley will be some of combination of AD/BOSH/GARNETT!!!11!

    Sure you did.

The SOS is what it is.... it doesn't favor Gonzaga either. NCAA vs G League is what it is. If you want to see players go up against NBA level physicality, speed, and play under NBA rules.... well....

We are about to most likely about to end high school to college/non nba professional leagues in the next few years. NCAA isn't the same as it was 10 years ago.

LOL. Whatever. You consistently use hyperbole to get your point across. You called the G League experience irrelevant and then backtracked to "not a big deal".

Your mind is obviously made up.

The evidence points to offense > the defense. But whatever.

    LOL

I'm not the one spouting hyperbole in this discussion.

    Own up to your shet.

Don’t understand the Lavine comp, Lavine was 13th overall pick and seen as an athlete. While he has definitely grown to his potential I see Green as much more polished the player handles, shooting, and passing. I see young Dwayne Wade

You got some NCAA SOS...... add in a little G League physicality..... baby, you got some data points going.

I think you like a lil bit of hyperbole.... since you can't name these immediate defensive impact rookies. ;)

No way man, no way the Gleague is even CLOSE to NBA physicality or speed, not even close. If it were, then players like Bruno would have translated to the NBA after impressing in the G. It's not even close.

And yeah, we will be ending High-school to college as we should IMO but that's another discussion.

It is though? It's just a league for players to work on their games, like seriously, dudes dominate there all the time then called up to the NBA to sit at the end of a bench. What does that tell you, seriously? This is a sincere question since you're claiming the G has NBA level physicality and speed...

That works for the regular season at least, in the post season, you need to be able to get stops. Literally every championship coach and player will tell you that.
