Nadal losing this match puts the nail in the coffin for me. It’s been clear Djoko was the most talented tennis player ever since 2017 (**** maybe even 2011), and now outside of injuries he’s going to have the hardware to back it up within the next 1.5 years. He has his issues off court but dude is a fcking warrior. He was getting curb stomped in the first and came back to win 3 straight sets against the greatest clay court player ever. Such a fun ride watching this dudes game over the last 16 years or whatever. I remember trying to emulate his buggy whips in tournaments when I was in 11th grade…. 14 years ago?
Against Tsitsipas Nole has 99% chance of winning. Ofc if it was Nadal instead it would have been 100%. WADA is actually enforcing testing to tennis players unlike the NBA, so I don't think either is doping and I actually despise both.
I haven't followed tennis that closely but I didn't realize Djokovic is so close to matching Nadal and Federer in majors. That said Tsitsipas is really taking it to him. Very impressive as I think most analyst thought that he would crumble against Djokovic after that epic semis.
Very impressive I’m also blown away that this great tennis player speaks so many different languages. Simply awesome!
If djoko doesn’t get that ejection last year, he’d already be at 20. He’s head and shoulders above the young guys mentally and just better than Nadal and Federer at this point in their careers.
Well..I root for him but gotta be realistic. There was never a real chance he would have won against Djoker or Nadal. If it was Fed that would be another story. It is his virgin trip to the finals so he had a good showing. Also Tsitsipas is a little prick and immature brat who curses his father and has outbursts which I really don't appreciate. I know he's young and all but he gotta grow up and act with civility. The only player who was a mental case that I ever liked was Marat <3
Will be interesting to see how Novak and Rafa’s bodies hold up going into the next major . will fed have some juice given he withdrew early ? it’s crazy that those 3 are still so good , but frankly the young talent just isn’t up to par . Have the big 3 gotten even better since , say, 2011 ? Probably not . Experience counts , and improvements in sports medicine/ technology are probably helping keep them on top ... but still .
I dont remember him struggling to beat Federer in a GS final? An early exit was expected imo. Young incosistent players often lose in first rounds after a deep run. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets in a mini slump for a couple of months too. These young players are mentally weak.
Could just be different surfaces throw certain players off completely. Guess I'm going for Zverev to take out all the juicers now.
