If we get Mobley and Green we wont need low picks anymore only top lotto picks would be worth building so the other picks next year can go.

Wood is too old to be oart if rebuild proj meaning he will leave in FA so we should trade him now. KMart was obtained for like 50th pick or w/e no team will prefer him over 24th a yr later. Plus he is a 2nd rounder will ve FA in 1 yr.

Getting both Green and Mobley to play with KPJ would be a dream trio and set the Rox to contend in 5 yrs or so.

Yes, that's in the ballpark where I'm looking at for big man, with some sand
in his pants, that can shoot 3's. And he can pass nicely. Good find saleem.

Question is, what will it take to pry him away?

Others here don't understand that it's an investment of time and
money to train and cultivate rookies. T-Wolves have a talent in training
there.....and may see the #23 pick as a loss. I'm willing to give them any
of House, Avery Bradley, DJ Wilson or Augustin to make a deal work

Philly kept drafting BPA and took losses along the way imo. They were
lucky they got back a first rounder for Fultz.

I do believe you're right. House and Wilson might fit here with the 23rd pick, if they're healthy and motivated to play. Thor would be the bait, for Naz imo. It's not going to be easy, but it might be worth a look.

I see that a lot of posters here are trying to build a balanced roster through the draft. That's a fallacy.

A GM has 3 tools to build, trade, FA and draft.

By the nature of the draft you pick best player available, every time. You are rolling dice on a return on investment or a future asset.

Free agency is for rounding out positions and plugging holes.

Trading is for swapping the excess that pans out. Not a bad problem to have.

    #23 - Trey Murphy
#24 and House to NO for #35, #40 and #43.

Mobley/Green and Murphy immediately up the Rockets talent level next year without correcting the tank. The 3 seconds (see below) spend the season in RGV unless they really impress.

I think the value in this draft is in the top 3 picks and then the second round. I really liked Wieskamp as a second rounder but his combine has drawn too many eyes. Still love him as a prospect though (length and shooting with plus athleticism). Would consider him at 23 if Murphy is gone. Both of those guys will be in NBA rotations for years IMO. Also like Bassey (who I would consider at 24 but think he is being pushed down), Scottie Lewis, Bones Hyland (might need 24 for him too though). All in all, some of these guys who were fringe first to early seconds are moving on up pushing down what were consensus first rounders. Rockets need to get in on that.

Correct. I like his 7 ft 3 inches wing span. He is a good shot blocker.

    Today’s mock draft tankathon
Had Isaiah Jackson @ 26 so pick him up a 23

    Then they had Tray Murphy @ 34 and Queta @ 36, Wieskamp @ 56

If not a fan of Queta, we take Sims of UT.

Just look at the top SRPs

You forgot the most important tool, develop. GMs who mindlessly draft players without taking into account development end up wasting their pick or losing the talent in FA. Didnt Rox lose Marcus Morris cuz they kept getting undersized PFs as the bpa? When we actually got Harden and needed a pf they were all gone from Scola, Landry, Patterson and Morris. We ended up paying Ryan Scrubberson 18M when he turned out to be the worst Pf starter we had since Juwon Howard.

The fallacy here is mindlessly applying rules like BPA. There should be nuance in the application if the two talent levels are almost similar fit and pt for devt should also be among the considerations.

Sounds good to me. I think Murphy III will go much higher around 20 or so in the first round, and Jackson will be in the same range. I would definitely go after at least one of them, if not both.
I like Sims, Lewis, Edwards, Wieskamp in the second round. Bassey might be there. He is worth going after as well. Bones might have played his way into the 1st round by now. I'm high on him too.

Yes, that's why Miami and Denver are at the top of this. OKC is doing well too here.

Their mock draft was updated 8 days ago according to their site.

I would wait for updated version post combine. I really like their mock in general but I can’t find Thor anywhere.

The more players we get on team friendly SRP contracts the better chance we have of a rotation worthy player. My line of thinking is Best Player Available. It’s a tier thing more than an individual player. If said player moves up then the player that was there moves down & we need talent everywhere so the more chances we get the better off we are. We can only play 5 at a time. Let’s see what sticks then fill in around it.

They are trying to build a roster with stats, extremity lengths and 1 day shooting scrimmage games. It should be based on what they've accomplished, potential, drive and mentality but you have to do more indepth research than just listen to the broadcasters oohing and awwwing.
