Because fit should also be part of team building and we dont really know who is the BPA. I generally agree with the rational of the BPA but at the same time you shouldnt treat everything like its a machine there has to be some consideration for the human element there these arent machines they are living breathing people. Look at the Cavs they have Sexton, Garland, Okoro, KPJ before last year and are likely to get Green if the Rox take Mobley. Can you honestly say having like 4 guards has been good for their development? Isnt that why they missed out on KPJ and moved him for a bag of peanuts? If they get Green they are gonna move Sexton, Sexton cost them a top 10 lotto pick are they gonna get a top 10 pick for him back? No. So going BPA blindly has cost the Cavs already thats just a fact. Of course there nuances to a decision thats why you pay GMs lots of money its their job to assess the right mix between fit and BPA in the case of Green he is so far ahead of other prospects you take him no questions asked. But in the 23/24 spot that may not be the case. The goal is to end up with the best players its not to draft the BPA. If there is a glut that impedes the devt of the BPA or makes it hard to identify the bpa what the hell is the pt of drafting BPA? Drafting BPA is the means to an end its not the end. You can end up with not the BPA but if you develop the player well then he can be better than the BPA but got buried on the bench and screwed up his progression or felt he didnt belong and left in FA. In the case of Tre Mann and JT Thor, they have qualities which may prove them to be better than higher rated talent on the board. It's just potential though so tbh any talent is as good as the other at that spot. Given that fit should be the next priority.
https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/w...keaways-keon-johnson-scottie-barnes-stand-out Scottie Barnes and Wisekamp are just so dang intriguing. 6'10 250 Jericho Simms max vert over 40" will mean someone takes a chance on him before end of 2nd, or sooner. Too bad, wanted to sign him in UDFA for @ApacheWarrior .
Def still an intruiging prospect and still worth a frp to me. JT is only 18 you will see some immaturity at that age. Camping out waiting for open 3s can be a good role for him as long as his shot is smooth and he works hard on D. Teams pay lots of money for role players like that. You can see the diff between Mobley and Thor though thats why Mobley is ranked no 2 in most boards.
First post combine mock draft that I have seen: 18. Oklahoma City Thunder (via MIA) - JT Thor, PF/C, Auburn 31. Milwaukee Bucks (via HOU) - Joe Wieskamp, SG/SF, Iowa Height: 6’7” | Weight: 204 lbs | Age: 21 | Junior 40. New Orleans Pelicans (via CHI) - Quentin Grimes, SG Height: 6’5” | Weight: 210 lbs | Age: 21 | Junior
Love his offense, hate his defense. And he dribbles the hell out of the ball. Rather draft Wisekamp, better 3ball, better defender better finisher.
Juzang is also ball dominant. Murphy or Wisekamp please. http://www.tankathon.com/players/co...-corey-kispert--trey-murphy-iii--joe-wieskamp
Herb Jones reminds me of Nwaba, scrappy bouncy switchable physical defender. But better vision and passing.
IF ANY of the big men in this draft are a "Unicorn" (Durant / Giannis) Its JT Thor. He's been a SF from the get go and has that skillset on both ends of the court .... I've seen mocks where he goes undrafted and others where he's fringe top 10 .... no telling where he falls. If he fell to 23/24 I'd be content with Green / Murphy / Thor because he has so much upside.
Who knows? The Warriors could go several directions. They are well positioned to improve. Heard yesterday DaVion Mitchell / Kispert are on their radar. Those are two of my favorite players in this draft. Davion Mitchell would give them excellent ball hawking defense at the point and Kispert comp to me is quick release Klay Thompson. Putting Klay and Kispert on the court at the same time could be deadly for other teams. The Warriors are going to be tough next season. Klay comes back. Paschal, they may bring in sure shooting Justinian Jessup, and Davion Mitchell/Kispert or Scottie Barnes. Draymond would keep Scottie Barnes in check. Probably the best situation for Scottie. Or the Warriors can make trades: rumored to be seeking Siakim, Lillard others through a trade.
JT Thor is only 6'8 I dont think that qualifies as unicorn territory. He is nice as a pf prospect though but given his height he shoudlnt go lotto.
For me I'd call the Cavs and see how much the no 3 pick would cost. They wanna make the playoffs so if they's take CWood, 23, 24 and a pick next year for no 3 I'd do it.
I wouldn't go that far. Retain all picks for the next season. They have been wasted for years. I'm not sold on Mobley, but he is fit. C. Wood isn't injury prone, but he could get hurt again. Offer them KJM instead of a pick. We might need to package the two picks in order to move up in the draft.
@ApacheWarrior I'm proposing giving the 23rd pick and a future 2nd round pick to the T-Wolves for Naz Reid. Backup center at the age of 21 sounds good to me. Anyone can pitch in here. All comments are welcome.
Take the player that has fallen in the draft with 23; then trade 24 to OKC for their 3 SRPs. —> 34, 36 & 55. OKC does it because the already have 3 FRPs Stone saves money by signing the same tier player on SRP contract and gets two tries (the bust factor is real) plus a flier with 55.
