HELP! My Video Files are saved on External Harddrives that are formatted in NTFS. I have recently converted to a MAC.
The issue is that I cannot see some file if it is down 2~3 levels. I cannot manipulate the files either.
I got a new HardDrive that is ExFat but since I don't have a fast PC right now I cannot Transfer them over from one to the other. What are my other Options. I tried iBoysoft NTFS for MAC but does not seem to be working for me.

I will format in exFAT from now own but cannot do that with the older drives without losing everything.

All ugly solutions. Was gonna mention burning the files as backup but who has a DVD drive these days...

I would transfer overnight it through network wirelessly from shared PC to your mac connected to external.

Might stop in between but seems like the laziest way.

How many drives and how much to transfer over?

    How big is this project?

    About 1.5 TB

I have several drives but mainly they are duplicates

The moving it to a cloud maybe the only way
But a TB might be a bit costly.
I am thinking of finding a pc....
Then transfer from the nfts drive to an exact drive
Then working with that on the Mac

Tried with my old old pc but 5mb per second would take days. So I need a faster PC I think.

Yeah, I think you're right that transferring over the same network might be easiest.

Something like this or if there's something newer might make it less complicated to set up the local share between the two:

On the 5mb per second, that's over your local network between the 2 systems directly or xfer to cloud?

    That is a good question.

Do you think that two drives are connected to the old PC and it has been dedicated to reading from the NTFS drive and writing back out to the ExFat drive?

This is totally solvable with software
But note, your M1 Mac will need the latest version of iBoysoft

You ask at the end of your post “What am I doing wrong?”, describe how you are using iBoysoft. That is top-rated software built for your task. I can’t imagine it failing to at least Read the files without giving you warnings of some sort

This is the version you are using, right?
    https://iboysoft.com/ntfs-for-mac/
Here’s a how to for your task
    https://www.techwalls.com/read-write-to-ntfs-drives-apple-m1-mac/

What is iBoysoft telling you? Why are you saying “it doesnt seem to work for me.”

There is not "error" per se. . . It asks me to unlock my preferences for a specific program
but when I do . . that program/setting is no there.
So I reboot and the NTFS icon is not at the top (as seen on the video)

I can see SOME of the NTFS drives files
but others I cannot (specifically WAV files but I can see that type in other folders)

It was having the two drives connected through an old dell (8gb of Ram)
via the USB (2.0 I think) connections
    The slowness surprised me alot

Yea - This was the plan

    I think I got

    https://iboysoft.com/howto/enable-system-extension-m1-mac.html

How to Enable System Extension on Apple Silicon M1 Mac?
Watch our video to enable system extension on M1 Mac:

Tutorial to enable system extension on M1 Mac:

    • 1. Make Sure your Mac is Apple Silicon M1.
    • 2. After installing iBoysoft NTFS for Mac, click Open Security Preferences when you see a System Extension Blocked pop-up.
    • 3. Click the Lock to make changes in Security & Privacy and enter the requested password.
    • 4. Click Enable System Extensions and turn off the Mac as instructed. If the option is Allow in Security & Privacy, please jump to Step 9.
    • 5. Turn on your Mac and holding the power button to get into macOS Recovery mode.
    • 6. When you see the startup disk, click on Security Policy...
    • If you don't see the startup disk but a gear icon in the startup options window, you need to select Options, click Continue (which may require your password), click Utilites, and select Startup Security Utility, then select the Security Policy....
    • 7. In Startup Security Utility, choose Reduced Security and check the option: Allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers..
    • 8. Click OK and restart the Mac.
    • 9. Open Security & Privacy tab, click the Lock to make changes.
    • 10. Click Allow in the context window.

    • 11. Restart your Mac to finish installation.

    It is looking good

I wish i could figure out why my Logitech mouse will not work on my new MacBook air (I had a 2-3 year version without the new m1 chip) so annoying

    Great!

yeah, there’s no way iBoysoft wasn’t going to work, if they said it does. iBoysoft has to install its own file system driver to get around M1 complexities, so that’s probably the kernel extension.

Glad I insisted you not give up on the software solution.

Lesson learned, never go down the rabbit hole of other solutions without first exhausting the software solutions built to do exactly what you need.

    No Doubt.
I am disappointed in the ExFat Drive I got because it just seems like it maybe a part of the issue
It is just fricking slow! Moving from the Harddrives to the MAC - 20 minutes
Moving from the MAC to the ExFat drive - 12 hours!!!!!

    So I think I have 2 options
    1. Reformat the drive to be a MAC Drive and see if that makes it a difference
    or
    2. Purchase a different type/style drive
