I get the excitement of having the #2 and enjoying reading the views of the board. However, as someone who doesn't watch NCAA who should I be checking out. From what little I've looked at, these two guys appeal to me. PF ISAIAH JACKSON PF GREG BROWN I want some springy defensive bigs around. Who else is in range I should be looking at?
Juzang & Garuba are worth looking at. Garuba is in Spain but still worthy. If we don’t take Mobley with our second, I’d look at Bassey.
Greg Brown appears free in the 30s I hope we get a pick about there Trade Bradley for a pick in the 30s might be doable. Jackson seems to be getting enough love for a lottery pick so I don't expect him to drop. Mann & Williams are the 2 guys I want for the guys projected about there. But who knows how the first 22 picks go.
That's insane. Unfortunately, the Rockets might do it to save money. The players available in that range will be decent. Your odds of hitting with two picks back-to-back will be much better than trading them both to move up a couple of spots. Anyone who says different is a Fertitta offspring.
Same. Trey Murphy has excellent defensive instinct, length, shooting, cutting and athleticism. I think he’s be available around 23 though.
Bassey may not get drafted? Would be a good pickup if he doesn't. 23/24 I am fairly high on the idea of using one of the picks to select Greg Brown (or trading back if his stock is falling) He has talent for days - but needs work. Could end up being the next Kevin Knox (yuck), or a 3/4 who plays outside in. He will need serious coaching and TIME to get it right.
For all of our lower picks, my strategy would actually just be to gamble on wings. Just find long active dudes who can guard the perimeter. Hopefully we can get like a Mikal Bridges or Matisse Thybulle type. These sorts of guys seem to be available in the late 1st. Just keep drafting them till one pans out. It's probably the most important type of role player in the NBA right now.
Lots of those available in 2nd round: 6'8 Kessler Edwards 6'5 Scottie Lewis 6'7 Herb Jones 6'7 Isaiah Livers Trade House for SRP and/or TF buys a 2nd.
Tre Mann and Jalen Johnson. Mock drafts have them going anywhere between mid-lottery to late first round. I actually think Tre ends up being the sleeper/steal of this draft. He's a high-level shooter who can get to almost any spot on the floor, a skill that's really important on a winning team like what we see in the playoffs with Booker and Trae Young. At the very least he's someone like Dragic or Lou Williams in a 6th man role. Jalen Johnson is really as talented as any other player in this draft, a play-making versatile forward who plays both sides of the ball, maybe like a Lamar Odom or James Johnson. Concerns about his commitment are causing him to potentially drop, but if he could fill the void we have at the 4 right now. I'm also really intrigued by JT Thor, an athletic agile big with an outside shot, a shot-blocker, and can guard the perimeter, but just needs refinement in some areas.
I like Juzang and JT Thor. They both have very interesting skill-sets. Juzang could be a jv klay thompson or danny green if he could hustle more. JT Thor looks freaky, like Lamar Odom but bigger and a way better shooter.
I really like Tre Mann. I'm in the boat of wanting to get bigger, but there's something about Tre Mann. He creates offensive opportunity like Jalen Green. He forces it almost and does that pretty well. His dump off vision is excellent (meaning he sees what's happening and knows when to call his own number quits). I think Ayo Dosunmu is worth looking at too at 23/24. He's oversized at his position and I think that's something we need. He creates, he defends, he's an all-arounder which I think translates to today's game. I want to build a team with a bunch of guys that get it done in a variety of ways and I think he fits in this way.
