some of yall really just try to keep lying to yourselves bc you obviously havent followed suggs at all. Virtually every prospect breakdown has him as already being a solid shooter with room to improve because he has a already nice foundation to build upon. alot of you really need to do your own research before making up bs

If Suggs was a center, I'd say that he can shoot....but he's a PG, the standards for being able to shoot are MUCH higher. 33% from college 3 point line doesn't strike me as a player who can shoot to an acceptable level in the NBA for a guard.

I think Suggs may end up a solid PG, but I'd pick KPJ over him to run the point every day of the week.

Basically if you're drafting #2, you have this choice:
    1. Height & skill
    2. Athleticism & scoring
    3. Poise & IQ

Take your pick. No one knows which one is the wrong one, yet. That's the stress of drafting.

that's cause you obviously haven't watched him. you;re looking at it in the absolutely laziest approach. why doesn every draft profile peg him as a solid shooter already. Because that's what he is. And college players are shooting well beyond the 3 pt line that was moved back to international length 2 years ago. And that included suggs.

That's you. You're this big kpj fan obviously. I wouldn't. And I'm not saying no to suggs just bc kpj is on a team who still has a ton of big question marks, which seems to be your m

Mobley and Wood IMO don't necessarily overlap, neither would Green and KPJ. They play different positions.

You can run Wood as a center, but he's more comfortable at PF playing next to a center. Mobley would come in and be that guy for him.

Green is a fairly traditional SG which would work very well next to a guy like KPJ playing PG. It makes it to where Green doesn't have to pretend he's a combo guard and he can just be him.

We've also seen KPJ throw tantrums until he was essentially kicked off a team and get into multiple incidents off-the-court while averaging pretty much awful advanced stats across the board. Dude has shown flashes, but the consistency or efficiency isn't there. He hasn't "proven" anything to me yet aside from the fact that he can take a ton of shots, and he occasionally has nights when he can make them. He's turnover prone, doesn't play defense and doesn't have great basketball IQ or shot selection. Those are all areas where Suggs excels.

I don't care if Suggs never puts up a ton of triple doubles (which I think he will) or ever has 50-point games. He is a more composed, well-rounded and high IQ basketball player at this point in their careers. Give me a guy who can give me an efficient 16/6/4 every night with elite defense over a guy who can give you 25 and 8, but does it on 22 shots with 7 turnovers and awful defense.

No, I absolutely have watched him....and I've looked at his numbers. I could look at a highlight reel of the times he actually made shots and come away thinking he was a knock down shooter, but that's just not true. That's the problem with those who focus on the highlights. I could show you a highlight reel of Westbrook making 3's and it might make someone think he was Ray Allen, wouldn't make it true.

Hey, maybe you're right though, maybe he'll show up in the NBA having learned how to shoot, anything is possible, but he didn't show that in college.

Joel Ayayi was a better guard for Gonazaga IMO. Suggs is riding the hype train to being a rotation player in the NBA - and to pick him at 2 overall?? Crazy. Strange to see the argument when Suggs was the 3rd best player on his team? If that?

    "potential" .. riiiiight.

In the Podcast, Clutch and Bima point out that Silas considers Wood's skill set and value to be mismatching against other 5s. He isn't as unique at 4. They think Mobley would possibly be a 4 with Wood at 5 if they were on the court together. They are similar enough that I don't see the difference, but I don't know Mobley's game nearly as well as Wood's obviously.

I'm in favor of never drafting for fit. So if we think Mobley is best, take him. Maybe we move Wood for solid value at the deadline if Mobley is panning out.

Sure, there are non-basketball red flags with KPJ, that's why he went as late as he did in the draft, that's why the Rockets got him the way they did, but on the court, he's a better player than Suggs. I'm more concerned with how they do on the court than if they are choir boys off the court.

i can actually tell you haven't. There is no highlight reel of westbrick making 3's especially not to where anyone would think hes ray allen. nonsense. and you of all people trying to use that attempt. don't be that desperate here.

Yeah he has showed it in college and that's why his profiles includes him being a already solid shooter

There's a couple of ways of looking at that. You can say he had a great team around him and shared the ball... or you can say with a team that good he should at least have a lot more dimes. I say, with that many other shooters around, 33% from deep concerns me. He won't be that open in the NBA, and I don't think he's quick enough to create much space.

In that way, I'll say again that he reminds me of Miles Simon a little bit, (though definitely projecting to have a better NBA career... not bound for other leagues). Simon was 6-3 and really played way above his college competition. Didn't translate very well.

    "College career[edit]
Simon ... played guard for the University of Arizona Wildcats men's basketball team,[2] where he formed a formidable backcourt duo with future NBA point guard Mike Bibby. He was named the Most Outstanding Player in the 1997 NCAA Tournament in which Arizona defeated three #1 ranked teams University of Kansas, University of North Carolina, and University of Kentucky in overtime to win the national championship.[3][4]

    Professional career[edit]
After college, Simon played five games with the Orlando Magic during the 1999 NBA season.[5] He played for two seasons for the Dakota Wizards of the CBA, whom he led to a CBA championship in 2002.[2] Simon earned enough awards and honors in 2001–2002 to make him the most decorated player in CBA history. He received honors as Player of the Week four times. He was named the CBA Newcomer of the Year, the CBA MVP, and the Playoff MVP.[2] He also holds the CBA record for most free throws made in a row at 60."

EDIT: Simon averaged 14.6 in college, LOL, shot 37% from 3-pt range.

wrong. His athleticism isn't a question. It's one of his strengths

You're just saying that because I disagree with you.

You could easily make a highlight reel of Westbrick making 3's, he's made over 1000 in his career, if you included only those he made, you could fool someone who didn't know any better into thinking he was a knock down 3 point shooter when that's obviously not the case.

The same is going on for Suggs, the numbers and the tape (if you watch the whole thing and not just highlights) suggest that he's got a LONG way to go before being able to shoot at an acceptable level for an NBA guard.

Nah, I'm saying it because it's the true

Like I said there's no highlight reel of it for a reason. Again stupid attempt.

    stop with the ignorance

funny how you're talking about shooting and what's acceptable when kpj is broken from 3 pt land. The irony and how he's in westbrick territory

I guess this is just where most of CF and I disagree. I really like KPJ, and I've seen him show star potential in flashes. But I'm pretty far from assuming that he's going to be a long-term franchise cornerstone on this team. I need consistency, reliability and efficiency, and he's pretty far from that right now.

Again, that's not to say that I think Suggs is the best prospect out of he, Green and Mobley. I don't. Gun to my head, he'd probably be my third. But if the Rockets think he's the best guy, I can live with him being the pick. He's an excellent prospect, and I don't assume that any player on this team right now is necessarily in their long-term plans. Wood and Tate are old for this team's rebuild timeline. Porter is erratic and inconsistent. Everyone else is either a veteran likely to be gone soon or a young role player at best.

So, for me, I think Stone and co. just need to get with the guy they like best here, period, regardless of position.

    LOL, okay....

I mean, 33% from the college 3 tells a different story, but fine, you watched a video from a "scout" that convinced you otherwise. Gotcha.

nah, i didn't. I actually follow college basketball when its obvious the majority don't . People like you are the ones who suddenly became experts and watched a few draft vids and are now posting what these guys can and cannot do.

I’m not opposed to getting Suggs, if he proves to have the intangibles we need.

The other guys look higher on the totem pole, but Suggs is no chump. He had the poise of a senior and was merely a freshman at Gonzaga.

Suggs to me if he were the pick, he’d be the pick based on substance over flash. But Mobley with his 4.0 GPA and high Basketball IQ intrigues me as well.

And to think Green was the number 2 high school talent behind Cade!

Choosing between Mobley, Green, and Suggs are a sweet dilemma to have. I can see why the Rockets said they are open for business, any team want to overpay to get the #2 pick? Because it’s gonna be treated as any other years #1 draft pick.

It's something he's had to work on too....and he's further along with working on it than Suggs is.

KPJ started off the season struggling from 3, then finished his last 15 games shooting 38% from 3.

With Suggs, you are starting out with a kid that will need to put in those years of work on his 3, with KPJ, you have a kid that already did that and is starting to see the results from that.
