Here is how I look at it. I'm looking at 23 and 24 and that will help answer #2. At 23 and 24 are you more likely to find a player who gives you 90% of what Mobley gives you or are you more likely to find a player who gives you 90% of what Green gives you? My guess is you can find 90% of Green much easier than 90% of Mobley.

Correct. The big have to have the guard-like skillset. This is why I believe Evan Mobely will be a star in today's NBA. He can guard on the perimeter and on the inside. He can be a playmaker off the dribble. He can also play off the ball. A two-way 7 footer is exactly what we need. We already have the guards. We need size. No rebounds no rings.

If Jalen had baseball mits for hands I'd consider the comparison.

Or If he got to the FT line.

take the best player regardless of position. now if its a tossup go with the wing scorer. but in this case I think the scouts are all leaning to mobley being a cut another the rest after cade.

I agree that championships now a days go through wings, but lets not forget that Jokic was the mvp, embiid the runner up, Ayton is good, etc.
We dont have any keepers going forward, so i would pick the best available talent, not looking at fits. To be honest, im not even sure who it should be.
Lets just hope we get the right pick,

The premise of this thread should be completely rejected. You draft the best player available...always.

I agree with you ! Considering all the big men that the Rockets have had over the many years, all of which turned out to be great players, I would be putting my money on Mobley to join our team.

So Green gonna be the goat now? Lol

Btw if Sam Bowie wasnt injury prone he would have justified his selection just like Hakeem. Mobley doesnt have any injury risks right now other than he is 7 ft tall.

I think that there are two kinds of bigs

    1) Bigs who everyone saw that they are going to be Superstars (all #1): Dream, Shak, David Robinson, Duncan, AD

    2) Bigs with potential to be Superstars. I dont see that many of these potential stars turn into it:
    Amare
    Dirk
    Pau Gasol
    Lamarcus Aldridge

The list of bust or meh players is endless
    Thabett
    Anthony Benett
    Stromile Swift
    Kenyon Martin (sorry JR.)
    Valanciunas
    Bargnani
    Drummond
    Eddy Curry
    Tyson Chandler
    and many more

    Conclusion: pick Green

We need interior defense, we need rim protection, we need rebounding. We have shooters and shot creators, but we don't have the a defensive big which we sorely need.

We kind of need everything. We have shooters and shot creators? We were 27th in offensive rating and 28th in 3pt%. If we had a championship level star already I'd be inclined to agree, but whoever we draft also needs to be a high level offensive player.

yer reading way too much into it...

OP said "NEVER pick a big to be your franchise player"

and i am merely stating that to make such a statement as an absolute is ridiculous...

never say never - cause ya never know what the future may hold...

More likely Chris Bosh vs. Eddie Jones.

The thing is Green plays with pros. Its like multiple higher level than ncaa and basicaly what you see in gleague rn is his floor in the NBA. He would feel far less than a rookie right off the bat. Trade #2 with Wood for Cade please anyway
