If Green had gone to college we would be talking about Cade Cunningham here now. Because Green would have been the more talked about #1 pick. He would have dominated college even more than he did in the G-league.
He was much more talented offensively, though. I think a 25 point projection for Mobley is very optimistic.
If baby deer Clint Capela can average 15-17 points a game, I don't think 25 a game is out of the question for a guy that gets to the line and converts free throws like Mobley does. Not to mention the other skills he possesses.
Clint Capela spent his entire career catching lobs from Harden, now Trae. We don't have Harden or even Trae to hand feed Mobley points. Mobley is not NBA ready body wise, needs to put on a lot of weight to bang down low and score points. He kind of scores like Wood just way less polished.
I don't see him as another Austin Rivers but I have a very hard time seeing him with Kobe-like potential. I'm not looking for stardom in any of these kids because they are raw and will need to develop their BB IQs and upgrade their skillset. Also, this is a decision that the Rox simply cannot screw up and I am encouraged by Stone's cautious approach which ties the pick to the system of basketball play they are trying to implement here. It's lightyears away from the Morey con job we'd still be getting had he not jumped ship...after screwing up the franchise for years.
Odd comparison to me. Harden is a point guard. Neither Green or KPJ seem like true points. With Green I don't see a guy that can average 6 APG either. Maybe a bigger version of Lillard/McCollum backcourt might be a better comparison?
So KPJ just lucked into 6.3 assists per game on a bad team? In his 2nd full NBA season!? Yikes. edit: squash that .. only 1.5 NBA seasons.
Completely disagree. When I watch Harden, I see a PG/SG hybrid. KPJ looks far more comfortable as a point guard than a SG.
Draft Green and trade the pick in the 20s for the Gaffey kid ( he's a stud offensively) on the Wizards... Porter/ hopefully not Wall Green / EG Martin/ EG Gaffey/Tate Wood / another banger That's a damn good start
We would be stupid to pass on him. If you have the time. This video answers a lot of questions regarding potential flaws in his game and intangibles.
Didn't say he lucked into it. Shai Gilgeous Alexander averaged 6 APG on a bad team too that doesn't make him a PG. I think they are both willing passers which is a good thing.
Echo this. Anyone seriously interested in understanding Green and his game... watch this video. It is insanely good. It is setup in a Gruden QB camp kind of way. Youre getting thoughts from him on his game, etc. Some things that are clear... he's a student of the game, he wants to get better, he understand where he needs to work, etc. The other thing that is clear... this dude is going to be a BEAST. This guy has next level athleticism. Like, best in the NBA athleticism. That's not always a recipe for success, but certainly helps. But more, he's got a complete offensive skillset. Handles, shots, understanding angles, passing, etc. He has room to get better in every one of those areas, but he has the whole package. In the video he talks about defense, how he wants to be a complete player. And its not like he has the want to but not the ability. He has the ability... will just be a matter of if he bulks up. He seems to take advice, want to learn, while also having a voice and wanting to be a lead dog. They talk about Lavine, Fox, Ja, Beal as comps. LaVine is really the perfect comp. So then the question becomes... is there something about LaVine that has made his teams unsuccessful, or just bad luck on shitty organizations? Combo of both... the defense is the first part. The health is the first part. But its mainly just shitty organizations. Booker isn't any "better", per se, this year, than last year. I mean he's slowly getting better, but he's always been great. Finally right culture, teammates, etc, you get what you get. At the end of the day, LaVine put up 27, 5, 5 this year on very solid efficiency. At the end of the day i have no qualms seeing Green getting there, and faster than LaVine. This should be the pick, assuming the Pistons don't take him (they won't though there are rumblings... but in that case you thank the gods and take Cade). Don't forget also that he likely already has a relationship with KPJ... AND he is a perfect fit next to KPJ. IF KPJ can be what we want him to be (and btw he REALLY needs to focus on defense, too) and IF Green can turn into what I think he can, this is a future legit double all-star potential backcourt, that actually fits together well. The issue DEFINITELY becomes defense. Neither will be great lockdown defenders anytime soon, and Wood isn't great at defense. In an ideal world I'd love to trade Wood to Cleveland for the #3 pick and get Mobley also, lol. Anyway... WATCH this video folks.
I think they’re both gifted enough players to be great at either position but they’re both better with the ball in their hands.
You are comparing the wrong guy with that list Mobley even at college level is a better player than any of those there
