Hated when that board went away. Spent way too long reading the boards back in the day. Took me a long time to find another Astros board.
Same. I've always liked The Crawfish Boxes but this is my favorite board for Astros discussion by a long shot. A lot of insightful and diehard fans.
Crawfish Boxes and Spikes n Stars (renamed later to OrangeWhoopass) are good. But I also prefer the Astros forum right here on CF. CF 4 Life brother
Interesting thread from Sawchick looking at the teams most affected by MLB's new policy of policing foreign substances. Looks like the Astros are one of the teams that could stand to benefit the most from stopping the cheaters. Of course the Dodgers are fourth on the list of lost spin. lol.
As offense tends to go up as the months get hot, I would hope the new narrative isn't simply "the Astros offense, like all of MLB, got better when the sticky stuff stopped".... the Astros were good even when there was sticky stuff. Now there's a hot thread on twitter really questioning whether or not people should look further into why the Astros offense is so much better, in every way, than everybody else.... and whether or not there's something 'else' going on again.
Caveat: still some time left in June. Astros offense relative to league (RC+) in June (151) so far is only rivaled by the July 2017 Astros (153) and August 2019 Astros (142) in the last decade or so. I'd tried to see when the last non-Astros team had a better run in RC+ in a month, but FanGraphs tends to lock up if I try to look deeper than a decade. I expect this change in enforcement is going to benefit teams that rely on sticky stuff the least and those with the best offenses. I expect Astros offense to regress some, but early returns are that Astros offense has gotten even better relative to the league.
Straw stirred the drink last night. The frustration level must be huge getting beaten by the bottom considering how good the top and heart is. "We survived the top and the heart, now this ****?"
I read some statistic saying the gap between the Astros and #2 is greater than the gap between #2 and #27.
I hope we spank the Dodgers when we get to L.A. https://dodgersway.com/2021/06/23/dodgers-astros-contact-stats-cheating-2021/ Dodgers: Astros’ contact stats starting to look extremely fishy again
lol, yea on the away games we've somehow talked our opponents and their stadium personel into letting us set up our cameras and we now have new buzzer technology we're using. FTW!
Misleading title... seems like they're claiming the Dodgers are accusing them, but apparently its just a fan site re-iterating the twitter hot take I mentioned in the post above. I figured this would happen as the Astros continue to approach back to juggernaut status. Just re-iterates how much head space the Astros are taking up amongst all fan bases... a media-created monster. Ironically, their starting pitching for the last 2 months may be just as impressive (if not moreso) than their hitting given the lack of pedigree of some of these guys. Twitter claiming the pitchers now stealing hitting signs would be icing on the cake.
Also weird how they show the Home/Road splits from the 2017 playoffs for some reason. Not sure what they are trying to prove. This year home and road splits are very close. Of course this write up, is akin to me having a web site and writing an article.
