Doesn't Horford's contract end at the same time Walker's contract ends? If so, I'm very confused by this move... EDIT: nvm. They do, but Kemba is being paid around 10M more per year.
Take on Horford for 2025 1st Flip Horford for Walker, 2021 1st(#16) No doubt gonna flip Walker for another first. Presti, you magnificent b*stard! Walker 21-22: $36,016,200 22-23: $37,653,300 (PO) Horford 21-22: $27,000,000 22-23: $26,500,000 (Partially guaranteed for $14.5M)
It’s not a bad move for the Celtics. Moses is underrated, Horford can still give you quality minutes, and the fact that Horford’s final year is partially guaranteed provides a lot do cap flexibility. The 16th pick is a hard pill to swallow, though.
note kemba's is a player option and realistically does anyone see him actually be willing to stay in okc rather than opt out and sign a shorter deal on a playoff team
Proof that if you allow your General Manager the freedom to perform their job as they were hired to do... they can gift you the world...... and some.
It depends. Is he signing a decent deal or is he signing for the MLE. No player really opts out of a PO unless they are getting a favorable deal that pays them less per year, but provides them additional money. For example, maybe he signs 3 year, $60M. Then that's worth it. But a 3 year, $30M deal, I can't imagine he would make that move.
i actually don't think it matters at that point. his PO is good chunk of change but the way his career has played out to this point, I really don't see him opting in and of all places okc where we obviously know they're in it for the long term future years down the road. tbh they may just move him again before it gets to that point
I agree. It looks like Presti took advantage of Stevens by way of Ainge. It's as if Stevens did not want to trade Horford in the first place.

I don’t care how many picks Presti picks up. He still blew it. He had this collection of young talent coming off a Finals run, with a stud happily deferring, and he blew it up. Forever an idiot. Should’ve owned the last decade. https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/OKC/2012.html
