The most significant coaching hire will be whoever gets to coach Zion, IMO.

I wonder if anyone will hire a woman.

The Bucks do need a new coach.

Also, Westbrook probably wants out now.

With that many open positions, I can't imagine Becky Hammond not getting hired this go around.

If a young, mediocre team is looking to get to the playoffs (not necessarily championship aspirations), he is a great coach to do that. For example, look at a team like Indiana. They definitely don't have a championship caliber roster and won't likely have one for the foreseeable future. Why not hire Mike B and be a 1st/2nd round exit for the next four years.

Indiana should’ve just kept Nate McMillan if that’s their objective. He overachieved with an injured and mediocre roster, and they fire him to hire some no-name who only lasted 1 year.

it’s messed up that Bud and Stotts are treated as elite HC’s who will have their pick of almost any job, and someone like McMillan had to settle for being an assistant coach in Atlanta

Reports Conflict On Whether Haralabos Voulgaris Will Remain With Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks don't intend to extend the contract of Haralabos Voulgaris, according to Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer. Voulgaris' contract was set to expire this offseason.

"Sounds like he's gone as well," said Kevin O'Connor.

Wosny Lambre, however, reports that Voulgaris is not necessarily going to leave the front office.

"Bob ain't out over there," said Lambre.

The Mavericks and Donnie Nelson announced on Wednesday that they parted ways.

The Athletic reported earlier this week that Voulgaris had become a bigger voice within the front office.

Marc Stein of the New York Times reports that the Mavericks have retained an outside search firm to find their next head of basketball operations.

All of those guys who were fired were either (i) old school coaches with top down management philosophies or (ii) guys who never played. Its clear based on the success of the teams still currently in the playoffs, that teams are now moving away from analytics and all that jazz and toward former players who can manage egos and relationships. Not surprised, this is what the corporate world is doing as well, so it was only a matter of time before it hit the sports world.

If Dan Campbell does well with the Detroit Lions, expect the NFL to follow suit.

Finley is probably the front runner for Mavs.

    Why did pelicans fire SVG?
    o_O
"Mainly, the reason that Van Gundy didn't work out in New Orleans was his relationship with the players. In late May, reports emerged that Van Gundy was "not vibing" with the young Pelicans players."

Didn't Zion statistically improved this year? New gen players soft.

One of these carousel teams is going to end up like the Pacers where they're worse off than the year before.

yeah I'm sure we'd all like to fire our boss when we don't vibe with them lol. these kids are soft. its a job. you don't have to like your boss to do your job.

I imagine the roll of the coach is greatly reduced from what it used to be. mostly just ego management and calling timeouts. I think we're about 1 step away from teams making their stars a player-coach.

This Michael Finley post is out of bounds. And probably should be reported.

Finley is their VP of basketball ops. If they want to promote an internal to be the next GM, he would be a likely candidate. I don't see that as too outlandish. He's been in that front office for quite some time.

    Not unlike Rafael over here.
