Concerning the EO to pause drilling and the Judge that granted a preliminary injunction against the EO, what do you think Biden can do? The executive branch isn't above the law, they can't simply ignore it. They can fight it all the way to the Supreme Court (good luck with a 6-3 conservative court), but essentially, they must follow the law. It takes an act of Congress to make new law and unless there they have 60 votes (they don't), it's dead.
Nothing of substance is going to change concerning the biggest issues. Status quo Joe isn't going to do anything.
a devoid from his mandate to his appointments. You look far at some of his appointees, the usual system people, like neera tanden who has shot down entitlements, supported war, hostile towards journalist ...but bidens just say well hes teh first brown woman to hold the post and grew up on entitlements..how mcuh does that matter if her policy doesn't advocate for the viewpoint of the brand they are trying to push? And it was teh saem with trump, very very low on detail of policies, just surface level to quell the voting base to make it sound good. most people don't want to look at earmarks, amendments to the bills and who is writing them ver batim so long as the headline checks out
THe TPP was a massive compromise and had industry being able to write in policy to the point where the final headline was publicly satisfactory but the details continued a massive abuse of labor, the companies all signed on and willfully looked the other way as brown hands continue to get abused. The problem with bad regulation is it sets a bar and a precedent and at the time when it was fresh with incentive and leverage to make a deal we didn't push enough and now its nearly impossible to progress on that and its a terrible situation for manufacturers, for laborers over there, and for any standard to compete on when they can essentailyl legalize slave labor and we have less leverage with china than ever since then. Similar to Obama's policy on weed and a few others, he tried to be weak or pander to all sides and ended u with all too much compromise sadly. He had some great incentives, one of the best speakers, his policy and his fight towards leverage with understanding of the hostility he faced on eeverything didn't pan out as much as one would like, as much as his rhetoric. You almost wish he was as shameless and king like as trump in drawing some hard lines.
You don't see the flaws of the TPP? Of course with globalization a transcontinental pack is needed, but at this point to go back to those negotiations and not see the glaring holes where the winners are really the big companies utilizing the slave labor and able to look the other way since the onus fell on domestic matters where at the same time the domestic actors aren't willing to adapt so basically everyone can happily turn the other way and china who gets a non competitive manufacturing championed bc now you its cheaper to send parts even across the world have it built there in bulk and send it back.
It was in response to your: "What the hell do you think TPP was about?" Inquiring about what they think it was about might include the merits of the TPP?
I do understand how the Senate works. So does Biden, he was there for almost 4 decades... yet he still made a myriad of campaign promises to the people. He began his presidency by bending over for Republicans and flaking on the $2000 stimulus checks he'd *just* promised while campaigning in Georgia. No one of consequence held accountable for Jan 6. Holding cops to account after the past year of unchecked brutality, or anything of the kind, never promised anything really so I guess that's fine. Green new deal, DOA. Campaign finance reform? lol. The Biden Principles for Housing? LOL. Expand ACA? not good enough even if he did so. And on and on... It really is a bad joke, it's just not nearly as bad as more 45.
2 trillion coming for our decrepit ass infrastructure? That alone will allow us to move to electric and renewable energy quicker. The pandemic is under control and the US is trying to take center stage in vaccinating the rest of the world. Going on the offensive when it comes to cybercrimes and considering them an act of terrorism. Taking a unified approach with our allies to containing China and hold them accountable. He's been in office for almost 5 months, I'll give him a couple years before a start judging him which by the way I also did with Trump...and after that disaster I see a lot more substance and a lot less inflammatory rhetoric which doesn't do jack **** for us.
I like how Trump caused the illusion that the President can whisk away problems by decree and how the media complicitly went along with it by nitpicking and crying over his every little declaration. Biden made it rain by flooding a half a trillion in checks to people (paltry compared to its hyped pricetag), but his "failures" in round 2 have the same scrutiny as an Executive Order. Another multi-trillion dollar bill within a year is unheard of in our lifetimes and it really shows the reality and meta aspects over what people think of the economy. The lie is that Economy is Great because Stonks r Grate, but with that lie, there's no push to pass a second spending bill. Plus the fact that he really doesn't have a mandate in Congress isn't really his fault. More of the fault of voters who didn't fully support his party and give Biden the votes he needs to compromise less and get something done. They worried about runaway spending and a shift towards Socialism.... ...Mission Accomplished?
Dude he has been in the job 6 months and its obvious you don't know how the Senate works because you think Biden can just magically implement all of this stuff, even while he does not hold a majority in the senate. How is Biden supposed to hold cops accountable or the people involved in Jan 6?
There are always winners and losers in multinational trade agreements. Usually no one knows who really benefits until decades later. But if you like your iphones, cheap LCDs, and cheap plentiful meats (so plentiful that we profitably export), then you should be for these deals. Nay, if you like blue collar work and have given up on a white collar job though. "Easily replacable" puts a huge ding on that priceless aspect called Human Dignity...
