I think it will just fade away. I mean, it doesn't even really work in many cases. Comedians who have been "cancelled" are still selling out shows (Louie, Ansari, etc.); they're just no longer on people's TV screens as much. Eventually everyone will be cancelled, which will mean no one is cancelled. It's like the villain in The Incredibles said, "if everyone's a super, then no one's a super."
