I used to be a Simmons Stan... I thought he would take over 2 years ago.... Even had some battles on here about him... I'll happily concede defeat from now on... He's truly a waste of superstar talent...
I get he a nonshooter... But he can clearly get to whatever spot in the paint he wants ... Just chooses not to .. Even if he sucks at free throws, het mfers in foul trouble at least..
he just doesn’t have an aggressive mindset…content to take like 10 shots a game, score 12-15, and basically be the same exact player he was his rookie year
Still think Philly will take this series if Embiid is healthy but the Hawks are tough and hanging in there. Kudos to them, unlike the Bucks who were an embarrassment.
I still have Simmons as a top 20ish talent in the league. The problem he's facing is that the team he's on isnt ideally suited to his skill set (on offense). He's like a much better version of Draymond green. The ideal team for simmons is where he is the only non shooter and also the main playmaker. Surround him with shooters an open paint, faster pace offense and he would excel.
So would John Wall... Westbrook... Sexton... And many other black hole types PGs... I het his greatest attribute is passing and running breaks but damn, if he needs that to excel then I'd trade him ... Or freeze him and have him thaw out in 20 years... The NBA will be just what he needs by then
The difference is Simmons isnt a black hole and he's almost 7 foot tall. He isn't a little guard. He's basically a big. Yet he can guard 1-5. Simmons is already good, I'm just talking about his ideal fit. If the expectation is for simmons to be a teams leading scorer or the best player on a championship team, he will fail, but imo he could be even more valuable/successful on a different team.
