The one difference here is that Woods value is guaranteed to plummet as an expiring, his value at 25 mill per is slim, his value with 2 years at 14 mill is significant
A few comments... - I think you have to be careful with guaranteed, because if he's balling out a team that needs him to compete might offer multiple future picks - If he's making $25M then he probably earned it by playing well - "...his value with 2 years at 14M is significant"... but I thought you said we get a late lottery pick for him, which don't consider significant I like your thinking, I would just raise the stakes. If we could get a Top 5 pick or a young building block for CW then I'd be all over that. That would be turning his All-Star potential next year into some immediate value for rebuild.
Charlotte Hornets #11 FRP for Wood & #24 FRP Them- Hornets pair Wood with Ball, Hayward resign Zeller & Monk. They then draft #23 the 3rd tier of talent goes down to the late 20s. With his move —> they are set for a playoff run, maybe even second round. Wood gives them a multiple level scoring opportunity making Ball even better. They could max out Wood’s salary when the time comes. Us- More control over the cap and timeline. Lots of high-end quality talent in the draft. Some of the top players will be on the board.
Houston Rockets Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: -3.3 ppg, +6.0 rpg, and -6.1 apg. Incoming Players Kristaps Porzingis 25 year old, 7-3, 240 lb FC from Coosur Real Betis (Spain) 20.1 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 1.6 apg in 30.9 minutes in 2020-2021 Dwight Powell 29 year old, 6-10, 240 lb PF from Stanford 5.9 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.1 apg in 16.6 minutes in 2020-2021 Outgoing Players John Wall 30 year old, 6-4, 210 lb PG from Kentucky 20.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 6.9 apg in 32.2 minutes in 2020-2021 Danuel House 28 year old, 6-7, 215 lb F from Texas A&M 8.8 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg in 25.9 minutes in 2020-2021
My current wishful thinking trade: IND: EGo (HOU) + 2021 FRP (POR) + 2021 FRP (MIL) or 2022 FRP (BRK - top 14 protected) NY: Wall (HOU) + House (HOU) OKC: DET 2021 SRP (via NY) HOU: Turner (IND) + Horford (OKC) Starting 5: KPJ - Cade - KMJ - Turner - Wall Bench: DJ - KT - Tate - Kelly O - Horford
Wall to the Bulls for Young, Aminu and Satoransky Bulls then have exceptions and min salary to flesh out a roster to try and make the playoffs around Lavine, Vuc and Wall. Pg Wall/ White Sg Lavine/ Arcidiacono C Vucevic PF Williams SF Brown *only problem here is that the Bulls could make the same deal for Kemba Walker if the Cs want to dump him
I see all these Horford trades. If Horford played for the Rockets now, 2/3 of clutch fans would be trying to attach picks to dump his contract. I wouldn't want to send out two 1st round picks to wind up with Horford at $27mm per for his age 35 & 36 seasons. What did OKC do for us to help them dump that contract while receiving a 2nd round pick??
I need more than #11 for a 20/10 big man that shoots 37.4% from 3 on a cheap contract. Those don't grow on trees. We can start talking with a pick in the 6-8 range .... and I'm NOT taking back a bad contract either.
I came to this thread to post something similar. I live in Charlotte and they could really use Wood. I think we're giving up too much in your scenario, but I'd like to see something happen. The city is starved for playoffs and aside from Ball, has hit more draft busts in the last 15 years than maybe any team in any 15 year time period.
Please add your thoughts... Is this more in line? Wood For This year and 2023 FRP (unprotected) the picks don’t do much for the franchise anyway.
You just gonna ignore the picks are for Turner.... Like it or not we need a serviceable backup big man... Horford's contract is shorter than Wall (who is the main part of the deal) It wouldn't break my heart if we didn't acquire Horford... but IIRC we have a floor to spend up to as well Also that 2nd round pick is (checks notes)... #58 of 60 I get your point, but slow down and breathe, my guy....
Suits the Hornets. Hurts the Rockets very, very, badly. Houston needs to add talent around Wood. We don't need a Franz Wagner or a similar player to replace Wood.
Wall for Cristiano Felicio (3 year max contract with last 2 years fully non-guaranteed) and a frp from the Bulls.
