We go out pretty regularly. Texas city dike, west bay and different inland lakes. Would love to get out deep sea, but wouldn’t want to take our bay boat 30 miles out.
Don't remember the name of it, but the fishing shop next to Carter's Country was a dangerous place for me. And Academy.
spent the day building the kayak trailer (well, retro-fitting one of our old boat trailers) and setting up a baitcasting combo
Every time i think of going out on a boat now, i am reminded of this video and am green with envy anew.
That was beautiful. Loved the setup the guy had and he was catching them one after the other, sometimes right at the boat. Sweet.
I do too, but good freshwater black bass, white bass, crappie fishing in the Hill Country is fun as hell. The trout fishing on the Guadalupe is pretty much as good as I've ever seen, also, when you hit it right.
I got to finally learn to fly fish with a different guide on the Madison. Wow. What a revelation as far as action is concerned. Had a blast learning and in about 4 hours floating caught 13 with rarely more than 10 minutes between strikes. Also got to float the lower Madison closer to Yellowstone Park this time. Beautiful country with the only drawback how many people were on the river. For a native of Montana, it's kind of sad to see...but great for the local guides and tourism. This was also in the summer of 2019...hopefully the last year with the Covid gave the trout a years "break". They say the rivers are not overfished but when you wait 45 minutes in line to launch your boat (and there are like 3 boat launches in the area) that's a lot of boats. Hope to get to Fly Fish again this summer.
My dad got a fairly new bass boat. I used to fish Conroe with him as a kid. We went to Fayette County once, and the engine broke. I live 2,000 miles away now, but I really want to fly down and fish Fayette with him once more. Hopefully within the next two years I can make it happen.
When we get a guide, we typically go to Sabine. There's a guide who works out of there named marty, his boat is called "Louisiana Limits". He puts his boat in on the LA side, and you have to get a LA license, but the limits are way higher. 5 reds, and 15 trout. Also no slot. Forget what the limit on flounder is, maybe 10? We caught nearly 60 trout when we went with him once.
