    You're still pushing this?

Comparing Hayes to Simmons play style is the height of stupidity.

Not only do they play completely different positions but the guy playing the 5 was 6'6 while the guy playing the point is 6'10.

Wait doesn't this just confirm that he can be really good without a star player like Embiid, by doing really well with just a good stretch 5 like Horford?

They were playing .500 ball last year when Embiid was out

I guess it depends on your definition of "really good". When playing with Embiid their net rating is +15.5. With Embiid off the court their net rating is -3.8.

His numbers with/without Horford are a bit misleading. The good percentage of the time that Horford was off the floor, Embiid was on the floor. So. He's still playing with a stud big.

This season they were 10-11 when Embiid was out.

I doubt Simmons would have flourished in Houston.

Actually Hayes never went 5-20 from the FT line smh. But you'd be a fool to make either your franchise player or the centerpiece in a trade for James Harden. Can you defend 5-20?

True that. Once they switched the format of NBA games to simply FT shooting contests, Simmons became obsolete.

He’s such an odd player. I still like him but I am more confident in taking picks package over Simmons package.

I could live with him not taking 3 pointers but he needs to be like Giannis getting free throws.

He's good in Philly with Joel, but I'm afraid he would have been a bust in Houston -- he needs the right players around him a the Rockets might not be there for years.

He needs a go-to scorer and would need John Wall to be somewhere else (which would cost us further assets). I don't think we would need to fully retool the team, but we would need some more bucket getters. It'd be gamble.

On the other hand, we are setup to "tank for the best odds" the next two seasons plus we have a lot of picks. If we keep our top 4 pick this draft, then we made the right choice.

He doesnt need Joel, I think its a strong point that they don't compliment their games well. They both serve well when they are the nucleus of the offense, be it an inside out game with Embiid or drawing and kicking or even high post offense for Simmons.

Seeing simmons last night was some better indication of how he would do if he had a 4 spread offense with the leash to attack at all times. He was fairly dominant and its sitll difficult to quantify proper defense metrics of his impact on that end.

Now the argument to me is just our timeline. Simmons could put us over the top into contention for an 8th seed, but the other factor is could we have repackaged or flipped him elsewhere. But I think thats fair to say it wasn't the right fit bc we're gunning for the 1st pick. But since this year our pick was piotected and we only have a coin flip to retain it, it may have made sense to showcase him or even Allen and levert and then package them all this summer for better picks separately(I think simmons is a floor raiser, levert and allen talented but not floor raisers). And then next year we have our pick unprotected. If maxey was available thats a bit understated as he is a lottery level talent and a bright future, likewise with Thybulle. Both of them can be considered first picks too if we wanted to swap.

In the end, it will all be in the rear view mirror if the lottery goes our way in 19 days.

I guess everybody else but you notices how ineffective Simmons is this postseason. Him shooting 5-20 is just our imagination

Notice Simmons is playing for #1 ranked team in East?

Not only that, his triple double performance extended 6ers postseason another round.

Where is your god Herro again?

Yep, sitting on his ass at home.

Just take your L. Or keep posting stupid shyte.

    I could care less.

Watching this playoffs has helped me appreciate just how far off we are from being a contender. Simmons was not going to change that. He might have ruined our draft odds and put us between a 6-12 pick, but we are not a team that can contend with the top teams in the league. Given that reality, more picks in the long term to help us acquire, hopefully, 2 absolute studs and 1-2 very stout complementary players and 3-4 solid and not-scared-of-the-moment role players is where we need to get to. Right now, we have 2 players (KPJ, Wood) that are in the "solid" range, but frankly probably on the lower end of it and not very good at executing late game in the regular season, forget the playoffs when the game speeds up and the lights are really on.

    Rockets desperately need improved defense.

Draft and sign the best defensive players available.

Yeah, it's not like they have the best overall bigman having his best year the NBA. When he was hurt, what was Ben Simmons statline again?
