Not all picks and pick swaps r made equal. For all we know it could b jack sht picks or godlike ones. It's hard to judge the trades, but short term I think it was a shtty return.
So what's the most picks and pick swaps ever parlayed for one player? Don't talk to me like I'm an idiot, a-hole. I know picks aren't guarantees. However, 8 potential picks is meaningful.
hopefully some of these BK picks end up being worth something, but I have some doubt CP3 and Bron are both 36, and they are still very impactful and 2 of the best players in this league...I expect that Harden and KD will be similar
Idk y u r so aggressive. I just stated my opinion that I think it was a shtty return if u want to compete anytime soon. It's hard to gauge if we won this trade or not because the picks r sooooo far into the future. Like even if the picks become meaningful ones like top 10, we could still fk up the draft. I personally think Harden could have went for more. Short term it was a pretty bad trade, long term who knows
Yeah, you were super friendly replying with how I had no point and competing immediately was the only right answer. Maybe check up on yourself with the way you replied to me? This is a rebuild trade. It was always meant to be a rebuild trade. We were trading Harden to a contender to do right by him. Contenders don't trade away good assets. We asked for a young player to rebuild on top of and picks. That didn't come because Miami, Denver, etc were trying to keep their youth. Instead we got the biggest haul of picks ever. We have everything we need to rebuild and more now because of the Harden trade. Before that we had very little. We were built to win now and with this trade we're ready to enter the next phase immediately. I trust Stone. Trying to win after that disaster of a season was nonsensical. Even if we made the playoffs, what then? We could be built on Tyler Herro right now. I'm not sure that would make you happy right now.
If you randomly picked out 4 lottery players from over the years you would be lucky to find someone worth even half as much
yep that’s why it’s annoying when I hear the media mention the heat passing on Beal and harden like they are the same tier player. Harden is a modern day jerry west/ Oscar Robertson. Where as Beal is closer to Gilbert arenas. It’s not even close to the same value. The rockets fumbled this entire trade. You could have still traded him to Brooklyn got Lavert and Allen and flipped them for even more draft capital. Flipping lavert for an injury prone player like oladipo when you are so far away from contending was and is dumb
Whats done is done. Only time will now tell if the pick translates into superstar caliber player or not. At this stage, no basketball gods can predict. I just hope Tilman is ready to spend to make this team good if we do get lucky with a future superstar player.
Um, by 2027, Brooklyn may still be a good team if they add somebody else - but it won't be because 38 year Durant and a 37 year old Harden are leading them to 60 win seasons as franchise players playing 2000+ minutes a year.
A very astute observation. They rely more on skill and less on athleticism. I'm not implying that they're not quick.
Except you already know Tillman did that to save money. So from his stand point jit was a huge win. He saved like 20 million.
I said nothing about 60 wins so why you’re trying to use that as a benchmark I have no clue...40 wins is all it takes for the pick to not be in the lottery
LOL, the naive chance any given pick is going to be in the lottery is less than 50% so that's hardly a bold statement. The later picks/swaps may be valuable, it may not be, but if it's not valuable it's not likely to be because Harden and Durant (pushing 40 after their current contracts expire) are still throwing in buckets.
It's easy for you to say that. I feel this year the Rockets were not lucky in regards to who was available for trade. The only few teams that James would have accepted a trade to and were contemplating a trade were Celtics / 76ers / Nets / Miami. There was not an LA type situation, where AD wanted to get to LA and LA happen to have picks + Ball / Ingram / Hart. Same with the Kawhi situation in LA Clippers, you did not have another star free agent telling a team to trade for Harden or else he signs with your competitor, thus OKC cashed in big time on Paul George. You think of the Celtics situation, they had Jaylen Brown and that's it. Everyone else not all that great. Celtics were also greedy with picks and were not going to trade the farm. 76ers, you had Simmons, which the board is split on and I'm willing to bet the basketball world is split on and for good reason. You combine that with some players that were just going to solid role players at best plus a few draft picks, once again, just not a great package. Miami, Duncan/Herro and that was it lol. Duncan is going to get paid this summer and Herro, I guess can a potential building block, but this season certainly didn't show it. The Nets were willing to mortgage their pick future to get James. Players that came along were not attractive long term projects, so whatever, we took the picks. Keeping James was not an option either (sadly), it was just going to continue being an ugly divorce, Rockets had to move on. We were just very unlucky. If we would of tried to trade James 2019 offseason, we'd be having a different discussion.
I'm not mad at what Stone got from the Nets for Harden. I was more confused (and later really annoyed) at how quickly he flipped Allen and LeVert. It's almost as if he made those additional trades to say "I'm just as savvy at Daryl! I can expand trades just like him!". Allen and LeVert (even before the cancer diagnosis) had value. Sure he got a 1st rounder for Allen but there were plenty of teams at the trade deadline in need of a defensive center like him who probably would have given up more. As for the LeVert-Dipo trade...well it's kind of hard to maximize a player's trade value when 1. He/his agent publicly stated he only wanted to go to Miami 2. On an expiring contract 3. Just came back from a pretty bad injury.
