Another alternative is a stronger rebounder and defender at a cheaper price to replace KO without crossing the LT.

hopefully Cade Cunningham or Jalen Green
    if not like Kai Jones
don't know much about late first round picks
    i guess Butler and Johnson
    Butler, he won the champ
Johnson, popular school, trust the system

That would be cool but they have Wiseman and Green. Where would he fit in? They are not going to want to pay him what he thinks he worth.

I do see your point though.

Goal #1 is to land in the Top 4 picks. While being #1 overall and drafting Cade is the dream, I believe not dropping to #18 is what we're all praying for. Frankly, we need talent and any of the players we would draft 1-4 will help this team.

After that this draft looks deeper than what I can recall in some time. Picks 23 & 24 look to have some potential talent that would be great to develop. Really hoping we add size, defensive prowess and some consistent outside shooters.

I did the math in another thread .... they can keep Olynyk at ~$20m , pay the #1 pick 120% of rookie scale & use the NT MLE of $9.85m and stay out of the tax ....

Perhaps for the 5th or for wiseman. Wiseman if he was coming out with all things considered this year would be a top 5 pick again. Woods could be there win now 5 they were looking for wiseman to come in to. they spent loads of money with tax for Kelly Oubre so they are serious about giving steph and this group every chance to be a winner.

For us, we just take whatever talent we can get and build on those assets.

If they see wiseman making a big jump this year, it won't make as much sense or if it turns out to be a later pick for rockets it has a lot of upside, but woods is still young enough and has growth and experience building too

No doubt I would trade the 4th pick and Gordon for Wiseman. Chances are Mobley, green, and of course Cunningham would all be gone.

I'd be cool with that. I am not trying to dump Wood, his age, (Yes, 25 is young) and contract just don't match the timing of Houston right now.

Building around a core of super young guys the next few years plus Wall, and sprinkle in a few more vets and this team could be real good by 2023. Sucks as a fan right now having to wait but it is what it is as this point!

Wiseman is going to be a bust. Wood is going to be good. Wood for a top 4 pick maybe, for Wiseman no.

Cant call him a bust just yet. Give him at least 2 more seasons for that. He is only a rookie.

Only asking, why do you project Wiseman to be a bust? I did not watch a ton of early Memphis ball before he had to leave the team but seems like a skilled big man with size.

We don’t even know if we have a top 4 pick yet.

Watched every Memphis game and a substantial amount of GS when he was playing. I am a Memphis Univ. fan. He looks slow of foot, his 3 pt shot is way overrated. Low post defender that will get eaten up by NBA guards when he has to switch. Decent rebounder, but nothing special. Bust for 1st pick, maybe to harsh as he might be an average nba center or decent off the bench. Don’t really see the inner motivation to be great. He’s also been injured already. Wood is a much better now, but I would trade him for a top 4 pick or in a combo to unload wall and get mini pic and wiseman. No way Wiseman straight up.

    I like Cade and Green.

Anyone else id be willing to trade back if you can get a real good deal and some team falls in love with Mobley or Suggs.

I like Mobley's potential... but i also see him maybe as a Jaren Jackson Jr. type, but slightly better, which admittedly is really solid, but if there is someway i can move back 4-5 spots, get another player i really like AND pick up a potential another lotto pick, i'd consider that.

Please come with the names you would like to acquire for Mobley and Suggs? I agree with you Mobley is a Jaren Jackson Jr type. I'm not sold on him.

Suggs might become a better NBA player than Mobley. I'm not entirely sold on him either. Cade is number 1 on my list and Green is number 2. I wouldn't trade them.

Mobley is a much better player right now.

i really need to do more research.

and I certainly wouldn’t trade down just cause I could pick up maybe a mid teens pick or something. It would need to be if Rockets pick 3/4 and some team is just sold on Mobley or Suggs as a cornerstone. So it’d have to be a heck of an offer.

feels like there will be a sleeper or two great pick later in the lottery but otoh it’s certainly not clear who that might be. Davion, Barnes , Jaden Springer, Jalen Johnson.

more likely than not Mobley, Suggs or Kuminga staying at the spot are your best options.

    Really hope it doesn’t matter....

Mobley may "look" like Jaren Jackson but Mobley is legit 7 footer while Jaren is 6'10.

But most important difference is between the ears. Jaren still struggles playing basketball, he has yet to put it all together.

A good indicator is foul rate, Jaren was a foul machine in school and continues to have same problems in NBA.

Mobley is an elite iso defender AND he stays out of foul trouble.

In fact, Mobley averages the fewest fouls among all the bigs. Even Cade commits almost double the amount of fouls than Mobley.

And Mobley is an advanced stats monster.

I'd listen, but I wouldn't trade a top 4 pick unless I was floored. Jaren Jackson Jr was a sweet shooting, lanky defensive big who needed offensive polish while Mobley is the opposite offensively. I'm still wary with Mobley. Very interested in seeing Kuminga's measurements. Suggs seem like a high floor, super role player that can just fit in.

    Cade > Green > Kuminga/Suggs/Mobley.
