Jalen Johnson plays more like a 3 who can post up. He is my first choice among this group. Greg Brown is extremely raw, but he might have the highest upside apart from Johnson.
Jalen Johnson has a lot of in his arsernal. Hes a comfortable playmaker point forward. If he gets a lot of leash he can do many things. He is sort of a tweener at 6'9, but he has crazy skill and awareness. He is far more athletic with a higher ceiling, but I could see him replacing kelly Olnkys do all approach in Silas's offense. He could be what Morey thought Royce White could be
Yea, the more I study these prospects, the more comfortable I am that if we get anywhere in our top 4 it is cause for some excitement and possibly young game changing talent. This lottery can't come soon enough, just about a little over 3 weeks left
This 7 foot point center should shake up bottom of first round/second round. What was already an extremely deep draft just got deeper.
Another intriguing player is EJ Onu, of Nigerian origin like Dream. Skillset reminds me of Robert Covington. Except Onu is over 6'10 with 7'6 wingspan. I hope Rockets can steal this kid somehow, otherwise Morey or GSW certainly will.
Would not be sad if Usman Garuba slides to one of Rockets late firsts. 6'8 230 switchable defender with underrated passing ability. Of Nigerian descent too if that means anything.
@DRock the Nigerian prospect we need is Charles Bassey. He's got a foot in the old school center camp but also **** 30% from 3. I think he's Capela with a jumper. Also from Nigeria (Lagos specifically). From that list of underrated/second round prospects I like Edwards but I love Murphy. That guy is going to be spacing the floor in the league for a decade. Really interested in Garuba but I think the Rockets would need to move up to 15 or so.
Bassey over Garuba for me too. Garuba only can run the P/R on offense. I wouldn't mind him Usman at the 18th, but I would try to trade his rights and the 23th pick to move up into the draft. I like KJ Martin, but I'm willing to add him in a potential trade with the 18th, and the 23rd pick and even the 24th to go up as far as possible. Jalen Johnson remains my potential sliding target. I don't think he will be picked in the top 4 spots. I really wish some team would be willing to give House another chance for a second round pick. I know that this is most unlikely to happen. TF should try to buy another second round pick. A second round player could turn out to be even better than Martin. This is going to be hard with this deep draft.
That is only reason I keep mentioning the Nigerian connection with Garuba and Onu. It's a gag. LOL Everytime someone mentions Bassey, they say HE'S from Nigeria. And Onu is same size (6'11 240) BUT longer (7'6 vs. 7'3 wingspan) with a MUCH better 3ball (40% vs. 30%) than Bassey. And Onu and Garuba are more switchable than Bassey. I like Bassey but not before the 2nd round AND not before either Garuba or Onu.
Isn't he Thon's brother? I recall him playing in the Rockets summer league. What else can he do? Okay, I'm correcting myself, he is Thon's cousin. Makur is 20 years old. His other cousin Matur is 23, he played in the summer league or in the G-league for the Vipers.
This is an awesome video. Onu is clearly more talented than Bassey and Garuba. Raw in some ways, but with great potential. He can learn a lot from Hakeem. A high second round pick for sure, and possibly a late 1st round pick. Thanks for your hard work D-rock. I really appreciate it.
http://twsn.net/nba-draft/the-intriguing-international-class-for-the-2021-nba-draft/ I really like Roko Prkacin, 6’8, Wing. "Prkacin fits the perfect mold for the new modern day power forward. At 6’8, he’s a fluid mover with a great combination of athleticism and guard skills. His jumper has taken a nice leap forward and I think he’ll continue to progress when he gets to the next level. He’s a well-rounded offensive and defensive player with few scary weaknesses. If he falls outside of the top 20 on draft day, a team will be getting a big steal." I've seen him slip in mocks to the 2nd round and I'd love to grab him with 23 or 24. Also intrigued by EJ Onu... great find btw. A bigger Robert Covington or maybe a modern day Robert Horry--either way his tape looks promising. Adding these kinds of players would be great at 23-24 and there are some other great choices as well. If the basketball Gods curse us with 18, I still think we'll have an opportunity to improve our team and add some size.
I have a feeling we will trade the two later picks to move up for somebody and still draft top 4. I don’t see stone wanting to come away with so many rookies.
Put one up for Kessler Edwards mon ami. Any 6'8" forward with athleticism and defensive skills intrigues me just as you. I know you have brought him up before just like D-rock. There are lots of exciting cats in the second round.
