There can be more than one reason to lose a game. Yes, they couldn’t drive in runs (though Chas was millimeters away). Dusty also made a ridiculous decision bringing in his one reliable pitcher in a relatively easy situation instead of saving him for the much much harder one almost certain to come. Multiple bad things can happen. It’s not one or the other.
Sure... but when your pitching staff has only allowed 2 runs (minus dumb ghost runner rule) to this lineup, and you’ve generated traffic all game... the expectation is that they win this game. They’re still one swing away from winning.
giving up only 3 runs to this offense is still good. The offense just continues to suck with RISP and it’s becoming a real problem.
OF COURSE! who is saying the offense did it’s job? I explicitly said they didn’t, except for Chas and Tucker. But a bad decision is a bad decision. This reflexive need to argue “yeah, sure the patient’s bleeding neck is a problem but why are you mentioning it when he has a head wound too?” is so ridiculous. Multiple problems can coexist. It’s OK to point one out without also listing everything else that is wrong.
The further we get away from it the worse it looks firing Hinch and Luhnow. I mean maybe Jeff goes due to the "culture" crap but FFS bring AJ back after he sits his year. Everyone else got their guys back and we're still getting skewered.
And Chas keeps doing his job! We’ll never know, but I suspect that was the winner if Presley had had the 10th… even Stanek could have held their bottom of lineup to no runs with no one on base.
